No, no record. Not here anyway, got one's hide rug mounted that's over 6 and killed one 15yrs ago that was over 7ft. Killed several in the past couple of years bigger than this one. The one Dusty saw that had 3 fangs was longer than my wife and she's about 5'8"....

Timber rattlers taste a lot like dark meat chicken, imo. Can't speak to diamondbacks, never cooked up one of them.

I hate snakes. When I first got to the Ranger Company, they had a small clubhouse/bar. On the back wall they had a snake skin, a big one like an Anaconda. The hide was stretched out along the back wall, and it was a bit over 18 feet long.

God I hate snakes...

Timber rattlers can get pretty good size at least in so. IN. They get bigger around instead on getting longer. A 5 footer is a giant but I have seen them that measured 8" in girth

No.That is not a record down around John's house.Just down the road from John's place is a community called Wetherspoon that is crawling with buzz tails.During the hot summer is the time when they like move.
I have seen a lot of tail shakers over 6' and a few over 7'.

That right there is a canebrake aka timber rattler.Yes timber rattlers do get pretty big.We have a little rattler around hear called a pygmy rattler.
John knows the difference,I bet.

College educated game and fish fokes call them Eastern Canebrakes, what we call them around here depends entirely on how close you are to them when you discover one of them.... John
