Well I decided to test my "test piece of Lapua brass" some more today. It now has 28 firings on it and the primer pocket is still tight. 18 of those firings were a warm load of retumbo pushing a 230 berger at 3080 fps in a 26" barrel. Primer pocket is tight enough I Cant pop it out by hand with a decapping pin from a Wilson die. No bolt click when opening the bolt either on a non hot load. I had my steel plate up at 610 yds. There was a solid 15 mph wind. Between each shot I took the piece of brass in and annealed it, sized it, threw powder in it and seated a bullet. There fore I was completely off the rifle between each shot. Took probably 25 minutes to shoot the 3 shot group. The group was hard to measure exactly due to holding a phone in one hand, the tape measurer in the other and the wind moving the gong around. Roughly a 2.5" group tops. Shot off the bipod with my heavy Norma improved 30" barrel rifle. 230 berger at 3080 fps with a mild load of n570. This load has had a sd of 8 for over 20 shots on the chrono so far. It held 1.3" vertical at 400 yards for 10 shots also. I don't see this piece of brass giving up anytime soon either. This lapua brass is definitely the toughest brass Ive seen for a big magnum.

So I got some Warner dies in. Ive never seen brass sized that consistently before. Runout on sized brass is under a half thou. Very preliminary testing showed a wide and accurate node at 3145 fps with a 215 berger and 92 gr of n570. I loaded up 91.4-92.6 gr in .2 grain increments. For the ladder test I set the target at 1000 yards and hooked up my Target Vision camera. I started at the higher charge and worked my way down. I didn't let the barrel cool long enough for the 92.2 gr shot. After that I let the Riflekuhl stay in the chamber for 2 minutes between shots. Minus the flier at 92.2 gr there was 3.712" vertical for 6 shots at 1000 yards. 5 out of 7 shots in this ladder test had .877" vertical/ .083 moa at 1000. They landed in that tight of a spread with a 20 fps Extreme Spread for a 1.2 gr window of powder. 91.4 and 91.6 gr were .456" apart. Ill be testing 91.5 as soon as we get another cool and calm day.

I used my lightweight 300 norma improved that's under 8lbs without optics. Kelbly action, manners stock, proof carbon barrel, self timing 5 port, Hawkins bottom metal, Triggertech trigger, Kahles K525i, Modular Evolution bipod w spikes. I had no problem watching the vapor trail as the reticle barely left the 1000 yd target during recoil and always went right back onto the target. I was back in the bulleseye by the time the bullet was halfway to the target.

Rifles are instock and ready to ship.

Well I did the seating depth test at 91.5 gr and .020 off the lands shot 3.085" @ 1000 in my light rifle. 215 berger at a mild 3140 fps. Time to kill some deer with it. Got the drops programmed and verified with the Terrapin X rangefinder and Kestral 5700 elite.
