300 Norma Improved

I am in the process of putting my build together the question I have is should I go with a .235 or .225 free bore . I will be shooting Berger 230 and 215.

Ryan,

What is the weight of those two rifles?
The one with the eh1 and super light cheek piece was probably right at or a little under 11lbs w optics. The dbm setup is a bit heavier than a bdl setup. The PRS stock was a bit heavier due to the heavy cheek piece version. The elite cheek piece is 18 oz lighter than the one that's built into the stock. I have all the parts instock for builds right now with a lead time of 4 months or less. Come February/march im usually booked through august/September. Everybody orders rifles at that time to get them before hunting season.

Are you able to load down and keep the accuracy? Would love to have a super-accurate min load around 70 grains for shorter ranges & less throat erosion, while keeping the full loads for going long. Possible/advisable? Or do I need a 300 WSM and a Norma Imp?

Check out the 300 Norma improved that just shipped out to effendude.

Guys,
These rifles shoot as good as they look. Light fireforming loads with the 230 Berger went into one hole at 100 yards with the 25X scope shooting off a bench with the bipod. I'll keep this thread updated as I work up a load.

Ryan,

What was the velocity with that H1000 load?
3080-3100 roughly. Its a stupid accurate mid range load. However I never got the es and SD to be anywhere that of my n570 load. I loaded up 500 rounds w h1000 to test fire rifles with. Was way cheaper to load em up with h1000 vs VV N570 LOL. My n570 load will have an SD of 6-8 for 20+ shots. its completely dialed in to a long ways out there. Hits perfectly for vertical everytime on the targets. All I have to worry about is wind, LOL.

Heres a tack driving 300 norma improved that just shipped out for a customer in New Mexico. Shots 3,4, and 5 down the rifle measured .238"@100 yds.

The rifle has the following:
Kelbly Atlas timed to a Triggertech Special
Manners Eh1 in swamp camo
Proof Research Sendero 26" 9.0 tw
Titanium Self Timing 5 port "Muscle" brake in 3/4x24 threads
Hawkins Precision bdl bottom metal,
Modular Evolution Bipod
Flatline Ops Level
Nightforce NX8 4-32 set into some ARC M10 rings

Rifle is under 11lbs w optics.

Lead time on rifles is under 4 months right now.

My experience with N570 and 215gr Berger in the 300 NMI is the same. Vertical with 570 is by far the most consistent I've seen from all the testing I've done. Its also the most temp stable powder I've ever used so far. Shot it in 40 degrees difference of temperature with absolutely zero change in average speed, POI, or vertical on target (all load testing @500 yards)

Anyone running 250 A tips? Curious about real world velocities in an improved chamber.
Not that Im aware of. Plug the info in to a ballistic calculator and youll see that theres really no advantage over the lighter bullets due to the substantial velocity loss w the 245 berger and 250 a tip.

Heres a 300 norma improved that shipped out to Kevin Schaumburg. Shots 6,7 and 8 down the rifle measured .304"@100.
The rifle has the following:
Kelbly Atlas timed to a Triggertech Diamond
MPA folding Hybrid Chassis w a 5 round accurate mag
Self Timing 5 Port "Muscle" brake 3/4x24 threads
Brux Remington Sendero contour 9.0 tw barrel
American Rifle Company scope rings
Flatline Ops rail mounted level
Nightforce NX8 4-32 scope

Lead times are under 4 months.
