I’m going to try to explain something about the “asking for mentoring”.
I have done this several times and I have to put myself in the teachers hands. It’s how I have been given the best information... you will expect the same when someone asks you for help.

I understand perfectly . I am a Supervisor in a CNC machine shop with 40 years experience behind me . I train people everyday . But I also want them to have a mind of their own and think for themselves . I respect their intelligence. I want them to question me and have opinions of their own . Just because I’m the teacher does not mean I’m always right !

Only asking because it gives a feeling of accomplishment building your own rifle . And also now you’re shooting YOUR rifle . Not someone else’s . Just saying .

This almost feels like the time I went to shoot Trap . I walked in with my $250 Mossberg pump and the guys with the $15 grand guns wouldn’t even associate with me . It was hilarious how these ordinary people look down their nose at u because they have money and u don’t . De ja vu!

Not a custom in the cabinet.
But I've learned a enormous amount from alot of folks here.

Man nobody looked down on you, they offered advice and you treated them like the didn't know what they were talking about. There's a lot of good shooters here who are always willing to help, but you cant be a know it all. Some of those guys who you "doubt" are shooting groups just like yours, only @ 1000.

Maybe if I had 3 different professional Smith’s build my rifle I could shoot groups like that too . No thank u . It feels too good shooting halfway decent groups with a rifle that I built myself . You folks have a great day !

And I have a blast making ragged holes with a factory rifle.
Why?
Because they tell me I cant...
And because they taught me to load better ammo.

Give us break man, I just took 5th at the Sierra cup with a 4 digit Remington action. Calm down and keep trying bud, time to move forward for all of us.

I won’t be going any further than local club level . Almost 60 , had cancer twice , I’m lucky to be here . Im never going to be a national champion and don’t have a problem with that . Im having fun . I take it serious , but not as serious as some . Im calm . Shot my first match with almost no one saying a word to me .
So much for people grateful to help out like everyone says . Doesn’t matter . What matters is the smile I had after the first relay when they told me I was in the lead . Just trying to have fun ! And I’m having a blast with a gun I built myself !
