That wasn't me.

A 1" 20-shot group at 300 yards would be very good but far from impossible. The IBS aggregate record (4x5-shot groups) is 1.2xx" at 600 yards.

The IBS score record at 300 yards is 250-12X -- that's a 1.5" 10-ring with a 3/16" X-dot that was touched half the time.

All I'm saying is that you're shooting groups roughly twice as large as possible with top equipment and skills. There's plenty of room for improvement.

And that record u brought up, the 1.2” at 600 . Of course that guy doesn’t shoot that everytime he shoots . He might never do it again ! It’s just my opinion , but I think a record should be made with multiple groups , not just 1 group . Everybody gets lucky once in a while !

The record 5-shot group at 600 yards is 0.282" (great shooting, Bart!). The record agg is 1.2xx" -- that's the average of 4 5-shot groups, so hardly a fluke or "luck".

I'm out. You seem to have all the answers already, despite never having done something as simple as a seating depth test or shooting a custom bullet.

Lol ! I don’t have all the answers at all . But I’m not an idiot . I have a little common sense . I see Egos run fairly high here. That’s what I don’t like about my clubs F class match . Everybody has their nose up in the air . The custom bullet comment made me laugh . Have s great day !

I’m just talking law of average . I’m sure u don’t shoot all Xs in every match . If u do I stand corrected and will apologize.

That’s extremely good shooting ! But does he shoot 1.2” every time he shoots ? Of course not !

SavageMark,

You’ve gotten some great advice from top shooters.

As for what’s possible at 300 yards? The smallest aggregate recorded in the NBRSA is .1518! Or in other words (25 shots) 5 groups of 5 shots that averaged right at .455 per group. I shot that in 2003.

Good luck with your shooting and reloading!!! Looks like you’re on the right track.

Thank you , I’m trying . Very impressive shooting . What caliber and rifle and scope if u don’t mind me asking ?

What bullet are u shooting in your 308 ? Most guys at my range including myself gave up on the 308 because the 6BR shoots so much better . I’d love to shoot my 308 but can’t seem to get the same accuracy and consistency that I get with the 6BR .

Do u know if they have factory(home smithed) or custom competitions ? It’s hard to compete against a full blown custom that’s been worked by professional gunsmiths vs a factory or home smithed .

Here’s a 3 shot (.25) 300 yard group i shot . So is it fair to say my gun and I can shoot 1/4” 300 yard groups ? Of course it isn’t . I got lucky ! Plain and simple . If I had kept shooting the real group size would have appeared ! That’s why from now on no 3 or 5 shot groups ! They are misleading !

3 or 5 shot groups are used for testing nothing more nothing less, except in benchrest. Don’t be such a pain, listen to the people who are trying to help you.

Some of the top shooters in F Class are shooting factory Savage rifles
