Sorry but I don't see that extra 6 grains Orr so of powder capacity in the PRC making your "almost identical" comparison valid.I would bet that a 2000 round count on a PRC would be possible only using a mild load. The case capacity is almost identical to the 6.5-284. Neck length and shoulder angle differences should not make a dramatic difference. By the way, the SAAMI specs call for a max pressure of 65,000psi. Run them like that and barrel will go down hill rapidly.

I am currently shooting 140 ELD-M with 58/5 Retumbo in the PRC. It is less than Hodgdon's suggested max by about 1 grain but is making 3028 FPS with very mild recoil. My barrel is an 8 twist Kreiger and is 28" in length. My shooting buddy is using the 147 ELD-M ahead of H1000 in his 26" barrel. Recoil is quite a bit more and our downrange dial-ups are virtually the same.
Also, I really do thing the 6.5-284 having a short neck does have quite an effect on throat life. I've shot enough of that caliber to know it is a barrel eater.
