Why doesn’t Lapua make PPC brass?

This came up in another thread, but I don’t want to derail it. But I’ve always wondered why Lapua doesn’t make 6 PPC brass. Is it a legal reason? Are short range benchresters so stubborn that they simply have to do everything the hard way? (That’s a joke, gents- don’t send the BR octogenarian goon squad after me.) Some technical reason? I’m not a short range guy and have never even shot a PPC, but I’m curious.

Note for the uninitiated: BR shooters have for years bought. .220 Russian brass and formed it into PPC.

Look at the number of different PPC chambers. Dimensionally, it would be hard to make the 6PPC brass to fit those different chambers. BR shooters like to have complete control over the things they do, to include forming their brass to fit their particular chamber.

The "different PPC chambers" is a moot point because the brass will be "fireformed" anyway to whatever the chamber is.
Be safe. Dan

They do make PPC brass just call it 220 russian.
Same with BRA,Dasher,Brx and the rest. Just call it 6br.

Norma makes, or at least made, 6 PPC brass. Lapua could, if they saw a business advantage.

To sum it up, if Lapua could make 6PPC brass at similar margins compared to rest of their product line, they likely would.

I think that is the case. Why fix what ain't broke? If the demand were there, I think they would but...why? Everybody and their brother fire forms it from 220R. If they all got smart and shot a straight 6 Grendel, there would be no 6PPC!

Let me ask a series of other questions..... Why SHOULD they?
If they sell xxxx numbers of 220 Russian now.... then they started making PPC stamped brass.... and they sold XX..... would they sell more combined? less? or the same? how much time do you loose by retooling the machines? how much does it cost to have the engineers to create the design for that retooled machine?

IMHO.... if when someone else makes a better product, for a cheaper price (thus dampening the demand), then AND ONLY THEN would they consider.
until then, they will continue to make 220 Russian, and 6 ppc guess will continue to buy it.

I think, on a more broad spectrum, that any company looking to standardize a chamber that has been widely used for many, many years in (dozens?) unique chambers is going to be a losing proposition. We saw this with the Norma Dasher brass. People dig in and anything that doesn't fit in their current box is an affront to all things shooting. Norma probably took it on the chin over the 6Dasher brass. Why would Lapua go down the same road?

Naw. I think Lapua and Norma are perceived as, if not, two different animals. If Lapua made 6ppc brass, it would sell. Probably no great profit margin for them since 220 Russian sells would decrease proportionately.
