They're 52s, waaaay to much. As I said I use only one N40(42) in my D5.

Thanks. I tried some small neodymium magnets in my M5, but they didn't work well. Now I see why.
FWIW I am not concerned so much with sensitivity (both my stock M5 and 5-0-5 register a single grain), but more with repeatability and drift.

If they didn't work well, did you make sure that the magnetic fields were aligned?
They need to be, NS- [] -NS... NOT, NS- [] -SN The two inner poles of the magnets must be attracting each other so the copper blade cuts through the flux lines.... If the two south or north poles are facing each other, then there is no magnetic field to act on the copper blade.
Scott , you say the RCBS 505 is a no-go . I have an Ohaus 505 Made in N.J. ..... Is this the same as the RCBS and also no-go ?
Is a RCBS 502 stamped made in New Jersey by Ohaus good for tuning
Hi Will, I have a month of work in front of me right now.Scott
What is the turn around time on a m5 at this time?
Thanks Will
Are there any currently made scales that can be tuned?
Yup... I don't believe they still sell them.
Yes, the middle poise rests on a folded flat section and also on the top portion of the slot that is cut in it. The issue is that there some variability in how that poise positions itself as the beam moves. This causes a lack of repeatability. Moreover, that poise is easily dislodged. That poise adjusts in whole grain increments! Yikes!
I just bought that Tricky Dogs toy off Ebay (for < $7 delivered), and the magnets are nothing like the cylindrical-looking ones you have in that M5.

It WAS ~40 years ago. Look for some round ones.
I have one of your M5s, I trickle to the kernel, it's a precision machine for sure. I'll never buy another electronic scale again.
