Yeah and then when you buy something new or decide to move stuff around you have to spend all the time doing it again. Not supposed to drill granite without water cooling either unless you want to go through a bunch of expensive bits.

Granite would look good, but it is not practical for a work bench. Can't hammer things on it, it's expensive, and it's hard to replace if you break or damage it

Well if everyone was you and all they wanted was a reloading bench that looked good, I suppose it would suit everyone just fine.

I know in my gun room, I like to have a work vice/anvil or a barrel vise . Try putting those on a granite countertop and see how long it lasts.

Find someone who does kitchen remodeling, they do tear outs of some beautiful kitchen stuff and sometimes will give away or charge very little for some really nice stuff.

This, for a start. I'm a retired builder. My shop got "tear out cabinets". Still good after 15 years. It's dumbfounding to see what some people want torn out and replaced. With a little patience, you might find a winner.

Store displays? Maybe, but patience again.
I'm a retired builder in northern Delaware. I might have some spare time in August. I build cabinets all the time. Where ya located? Looks more like two grand to me.
You could start at a used office/furniture store and find a big desk. Figure out where to put it and work your storage needs around that. Those big steel desks are very solid. I got mine for free from a high school shop sell off. Got some tall steel storage cabinets for $25 a piece. Josh.

check Sam's club or home depot etc. They have tool benches with thick wood tops and metal cabinets or heavy duty shelving units.

Check with local contractors, (remodeling guys). When my brother was building his room he got some tear down oak cabinets for $100.

Habitat for humanity is a complete rip off in my opinion. They sell old used junk at prices that rival brand new products in Home Depot of Lowes

I've priced new composite countertop to make a shooting bench top. Waaaay expensive. Waited patiently until a whole section came in to a Habitat store. $99 out the door. Probably a $500-600 section if bought new. A little work with a jigsaw, and a nice kidney shaped top.

I've passed up long sections of granite priced at $150-300, simply because I couldn't physically get it in/out to work with without using my tractor; and, a fear of breaking it.

look at 45oaks room that is realy easy to make. Make sure to get the counter top hight set to the chair you like. Roll around office chair works good. I like the open cabnets way better than closed.

I'm wondering where you got those extra long cleaning rods leaning in the corner. You got rooked. You can't use them with all those eyelets glued to them!

On my top I routed channels for T trak and installed it. I use bolts in the T Trak to mount and remove my press and all other items. When I'm done, I remove and store everything leaving my bench top empty and easy to clean and maintain. I use this for a bench polisher/grinder, Thumler Tumbler, drill press and even a band saw. But those last two stay up since they are too heavy to keep lifting and moving around. Basically anything with a mounting bolt hole goes the way of the T Track.

Yeah no kidding... too big of purchase to do that and get away with it. Been there before, still hear about it years later, literally.

I would recomended that if she don't want your plans . Get a single bed for the room .
