Need some help

So I just bought the cz527 action here, I am needing some help deciding what to barrel it in. My goal is to build a walk around varmint rifle, with about an 18" barrel to make it a little more mobile. I already have a 223 that is heavy and shoots 75amaxs like a champ for that lay around and shoot, stuff. So I don't want another 223. O and 99.9% of shots will not be over 300yrds. I am a re-loader but I always like to save on dies, I prefer to use the wilson arbor dies but also have redding comp dies

So My question is this, IF you were going to build a walk around varmint rifle w/ 18" barrel what would you chamber it in and why

So far my thoughts are:

20VT
20 practical
20 TAC
221 FB
300blkout(i have a 308 suppressor)

O and how hard would it be to make this a switch barrel rifle?

Sorry, not the answer you were looking for but I have three, all 223's. Two model 7 Remingtions, one 20" barrel stainless, one 18 1/2" barrel blued and Browning Composite Stalker, 22". All have a 12" twist for shooting 50 and 55 grain bullets.

I'm not sure why you don't want a 223 since in my opinion, it's perfect for your applicaition and very easy to reload, componments are readily avialable and the caliber is extremely accurate.

I'd opt for 20 inch standard sporter barrel for a little better balance and ballistics. I shot numerous groundhogs with my "walking around" rifles and they are a joy to carry. I take them on farms where my shots are not over 200 yards. Beyond that, I like to use my heavy barrel varmint rifles in 223 or 22 250.

Incidently, the Leupold 4 x 14 V3 is a perfect scope for this setup in my opinion with enough magnification and compact enough for this type of rifle.

if you are sure 300 is max for your area, then the 221fb with a 14 twist using 40grbt / bk will amaze you - very accurate - cheep to shoot and low report/recoil ---i have been using them for years and they fit the defination you have described.

next the 222. same reasons

very accurate, long bbl life, long brass life for both easy to load for.
