IBS Long Range Rulebook

And there is also this rule that anyone that changes there rest should read.
46.0 All new rest changes must be shown to and accepted by the Rules Committee and the Board of Directors.

The more the rules are overanalyzed, the more confusing it appears to everyone. The 1/2" front bag thickness is clear. It matters not, where the dimension is measured from as long as it is at least 1/2" thick.

I can not believe we are still talking about this. How is it not understood? The bag must be a minimum of a half inch thick and may not contact the rifle for more than a half an inch up the side of the rifle. A third grader could understand it. Its plane and simple.

I am glad you brought that up about being a referee maybe you can catch those shooters loading a round before commence fire that should have been disqualified for loading a round before commence fire.
Stan
Stan, we talked about this. Do not start on my guys. I wont stand for it.

Stan,

What door did I open? I know good and well the amendment that is the subject here. But the draft says "effective immediately", and the amendment is not there. It did pass correct?

Tom
Tom they have the wrong information they well get it fixed thanks.

It still is a fun sport when you have legal equipment and no one is looking over your shoulder to make sure your not trying to push the envelope so to speak!

I remember when this was a fun sport, boy have times changed!!!

It is what happens, every time equipment or rifle rules get changed. And will get worse, when people start taking full advantage of the new rule, and others see how there old legal tops are out of date and at a disadvantage.

Always wanted a 5-year freeze on equipment/rifle rules, but now think it should be longer, like 25-years....lol

I don't see a reason for most of the rules. weight limit on guns, gun cannot be attached to the rest (unless it's a non adjustable bipod) other than that who gives a SH*T. My rest only comes up 3/8ths and his is 1 inch up the sides so he is going to win????
If that is truly a problem then lets have the range officer check how many guns squeeze the ears in so tight the gun can't move freely

Ok guys I think the issue with the rest rule in the rulebook is this the correct wording is on page 3 of the new book the old wording is still in the book around page 28 or so I think. I'm sure this was just a oversight and will be corrected soon. The guys that are doing this rewrite have worked very hard and have put in countless hours into this project . Im sure they will be some issues but they too will be corrected if possible .

I've seen the bag squeeze thing a lot at many ranges does it bother me? No, it takes a lot more than that to win
I agree, but it's the principal. I see some guys cutting every corner and cheating in these kinds of common ways then crying because some new rest isn't exactly legal. Honestly I don't care at all I am for less rules. I just think either way consistency is what's necessary

+1
Squeeze them, dont squeeze them. It most definitely takes more than that to shoot small.

I in no way feel at a disadvantage with my "old legal rest top".

"Edit"
After seeing how far a person or persons have taken the bag squeezing issue, I am shocked that the IBS has or is in the process of changing their rules that would allow this.
I will cast a no vote to not allow that at Williamsport. For what ever thats worth.

Comparing the 2012-B Revised IBS rulebook to the 2016 LR IBS rulebook, I also see the minimum of 4" length requirement to front sand bags has been removed:

Before:
"Sand bags on front rests must be a minimum of one and one-half inches wide by four inches long"

Now:
"Sand bags on front rests must be a minimum of one and one half inches wide from the direction of the muzzle to the butt stock"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And I see a whole new sentence has been added allowing multi-piece bag systems:
"Multi-piece front bag systems are acceptable as long as they meet all other criteria listed in this definition."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There's more, but these bag requirement changes, along with the amended clearance change, are substantial game changers to front rest tops and to the bag specifications needed.
