Zastava M85 firing pin light strikes

Bolt shrouds are very hard, I would not try that. Most bolt shroud machine work is done after annealing, Then re-hardened.
The bolt shroud is not causing the drag on the firing pin. Apparently the bolt travels a bit too far when fully rotated closed, so I plan to take the earlier suggestion and drill and tap for a small set screw in the bolt handle. Then it will be hidden from view so long as I'm careful and don't drill completely through the bolt handle.

Why not just put a set screw into the bolt notch in the receiver? Adjust it to your satisfaction and put a bit of thread locker on it to keep it there. You can also JB shim material there first to make sure that's the issue. Or stick a feeler guage in there to try it.

I thought about that, but if I manage to muck this up somehow I figured repairs on the bolt handle would be simpler than on the receiver.

Not by a great deal, but I'm just more comfortable with that idea.

FWIW, when this is done on 700's, the set screw is placed in the receiver notch.

The bolt handle and the receiver notch are different angles. I'd rotate the receiver to get the notch at the angle of the handle, do the hole at that angle, tap with a tap guide in the mill collet and you're done. That way, you don't have the handle hitting the set screw on a narrow edge.
