Worst rifle you ever bought

Ruger M77 Varmint in 22-250 it shot patterns. Bedded, recrowned, firing pin and spring replaced, free floated barrel and it would not group. I probably burned out the throat trying so many loads. I drug it to the gun show and sold it, I could not even look the guy in the face.
That surprises me. My most accurate rifle at 200 -300 yards is my Ruger M77 Hawkeye in 204 Ruger. I have not modified it in any way. Still, it out shoots any other rifle I have ever owned that was not a custom built BR gun.

Ruger #1 in 6mm Rem.

I did it ALL to that rifle. From front end spring bedding changes to back to trigger and ??? Best thing for it would be to drive it into the ground and tie the dog to it.
Sorry to read that. I bought a 1A in 222 Rem and was deeply disappointed. Rather than give up on it, I had a Shilen 222, Rem. Varmint barrel, a 1V forearm and a Jard 1.75 lb. trigger mounted to the rifle. The results were far better than I had the right to hope for.. It is now very accurate. On the other hand, I shot a 1V in 220 Swift for several years. With no mods. at all it shot better than 1 MOA all day long.

I can only assume there was a problem with quality control at the Ruger plant over the years.

I guess that would be the old Martini that was one of my first attempts to get into old single shot rifles. The rifle had a barrel made by Bill The Barrel Maker Sukalle. It was very attractive to look at.

There was only one issue. That was the 15. lb trigger. I needed two fingers on the trigger to shoot that Martini. Once a gunsmith was unable to lighten that trigger I sadly sold the rifle to a Martini collector.

My first gun, a Remington 770 in 7mm Mag... the bolt action was absolute garbage. Had a consistent issue where the bolt would jam after firing (might have been ammo but basically had to slam the rifle down on the table to eject the round). The cheap mount that the scope came on broke the second time I took it to the range and the scope flew back into my face. Sold it shortly after, only got two range trips out of it. Lost my faith in Remington rifles after that

Savage Axis rifle, probably. Wasn't bad, per se, but I generally don't go after low-grade equipment. (Am more of the "cry once" crowd, myself.) With the flimsy plastic stock, out of the box, it wasn't accurate at any time. With a proper stock, it wasn't bad. Nobody's pinnacle of accuracy, but not bad.

Worst long gun I've done: a basic Stoeger O/U shotgun. The fitting and finish was awful. Never did perform properly.

In MY previous poast I forgot to mention my Stoeger 410 O/U shotgun. After a trap outing the barrel bent to the left and never went back. Also a Remington police special sniper rifle. WOuldn't group. BArrel was supposed to be free floating but it wasn't.

I'm pretty sure all makers have birthed some mongrels from time to time. Most can be fixed. I myself consider almost all factory rifles as a starting point for what I want in regards to accuracy. They make them on assembly lines and the employees have varying skills and performance levels. All factory offerings are made to a price point. If you want something special you can order it from one of many custom makers and the sky's the limit.
The Remington M770 was an engineering catastrophe that punishes anyone that buys one. On the other hand the M788 was really a fine although humble rifle at a great price. You won't find either one of them on the line at any competition though.

Benelli Nova 12 gauge... shot good just kicked like mule! Busted my lip several times with 3.5 inch goose loads. I wussed out and bought an Auto

Remington nylon 66. Bought with my own money at 15 years old. Some 50 years ago. I thought fill the tube up with 22 LR and look out squirrels and rabbits. They laughed at me. If it wasn't jamming it was misfiring. Wrapped it around a fence post one day. Saved for a long time and bought a shotgun.
