Savage Anschutz Match 64 light strikes?

Anyone out there knowledgeable on these. Have I think an early 70's Savage-Anschutz Match 64.

Having light pin strikes.
40+ thou protrusion,
80 thou pin travel,
43 thou headspace,

When brass is inserted feels like a weak strike. No brass, solid strike.

I've gone through cleaned everything, honed sear, adjusted trigger, polished striker pin,

Everything short of replacing main spring which is my next thing if I can find one.

Anything I'm missing?

I do have a new spring coming, but I don't believe that is the problem.

I think the firing pin got replaced and it is suppose to use an old style pin. With the new pin, the striker needs to be replaced or modified. It is still the old style striker. I'm going to modify it today as per Anschutz, and hopefully that will fix the problem.

The mix between old striker pin and new firing pin was the problem.

The old firing pins which I don't think are made anymore require the old style striker pin. This combo retracted the firing pin when bolt was cocked.

The new firing pin has a return spring and does away with the nipple on the striker pin. The end of the pin with the circle shows it ground down.

Solution was to grind that nipple off the striker pin. I didn't get a before photo, but here's the after. Works like a charm now. Went from 80 thou drop to .235" drop off the cocking piece. Plenty of power now.

First picture is of new style firing pin with return spring.

No, the pin mechanically stops before it would get close to the barrel. There is no sign of piercing. The photos are a little deceiving.

This modification is specified by Anschutz as the fix with the new firing pin while re-using the old striker pin.

Here's a before photo of the end of the striker pin that was ground off.

I had a 64 start failing to fire 100 %. Turned out the factory lube had turned into dried shellac. You could listen and tell it was slow. Figured out how to disassemble, cleaned and lightly relubed. Sounded much snappier and returned to 100% firing.
