You know you are getting older when..............

I had a big magnet that I used on the steel balls in a pinball machine. Sure got a lot of free games until caught. Used mercury to turn pennies silver, followed the DDT mosquito fogging truck to help us cool off in Mesa, Az, helped Dad dust the garden with Chlordane, and after 77yrs, I'm still here.
I swear that I never did it, but some of the guys climbed the fence behind a store to get the pop bottles and sold them back to the store. I guess I remembered my Father's stern warnings about such things.

I remember my wife on top of a single bed whipping on one side and the other with a belt. My middle Son would roll from side to side. He should have known better, he eventually had to crawl out.

...you can't find the originals any more 'cause they were too vi-o-lent. [/QUOTE said:
They are on here, twice daily 1PM and 8PM. Wave cable, Boomerang channel. I live on the wet side of Washington. They are the actual old 3D effect ones made from cels. I feel sorry for the kids of today, the new cartoons suck.

I lived a few miles from a Nike missile base and five miles from a major oil refining area on the east coast. We had to practice getting under the desks during a simulated nuclear attack, like a wooden desk in a million degree heat blast would have done us any good.

Did anyone yet mention the "Drive In Movies"?? Just drive up and put the speaker on the window, and watch from the car.
My Dad bought a 1962 Ford Falcon station wagon, and what a party that was. Us kids would wear our pajamas, and Mom would make our popcorn before we left the house. I was six when that car was new.

Later when I was a teenager, I had a 1964 Ford Falcon Ranchero, and would take my favorite chick to the drive-in and --- well, I don't remember much about the movies when I was six, or when I was sixteen. jd

Ford Falcon! WOW!! That brings back a memory to me! One of my best friends, when I was in my early teenage years, his older brother had a Ford Falcon (I do not know the year) that was a bit different. His Falcon was somewhat "modified"! He put a Ford 302 in it, added a 4 barrel carb, some kind of cam, headers and a 4 speed transmission. I don't know what else>>>but that thing would scream down the road! It was a beautiful powder blue! Great car! Thanks for reminding me of that!

canhouse. Whats a trough?
Here in the western NC mountains a can house is usually made of block and is built in a place dug back into a hill. While you don't see it any more, some used to contain channels roughly a foot wide by a foot deep where a spring fed it by gravity. My spring house is a rock building built over my spring that feeds my pump house. The can house is where we keep all the jars of food that gets canned in jars which we call "putin up" also. Ours also had a tater bin where we poured our taters from buckets after we picked them up and spread them out to dry good.

XRs had a 200ci 6 or 289 v8 the XT 221ci and 302, xw, xy sixes, 302s and 351s. I had a xr ute from new that with came with a 200 six three on the column, left 14 years later with a 302 4 on the floor discs up front 3.11 diff. The best thing about the mods every thing just bolted in except the Fairlane radiator I fitted which I made brackets for. The shelf behind the bench seat below the rear window was good for rifles under a blanket. The latest Land cruiser V8 ute just tips that XR for get up and go but not accessibility to the rifles, older models L/C were better in this regard. That XR ute has many memories between 17 and marriage only sold it because I suddenly needed a station wagon, 3 into utes don't work.

Thanks everybody, ... it was great to go home again for a little while. It's a shame there's no way we can explain this to others today or maybe we could make today better. Thanks Guys
