Is that dyed quilted maple wood? What kind of dye did you use? Top coated with what??

Curly maple dyed with Transtint purple, water based. Rubbed polyurethane top coat. Once cured for a couple of weeks I’ll wet sand with 1000 grit and buff.

You got me started on wood stocks. They're a lot of work but some of the most enjoyable.
Have we done 9 or 10? I've lost track..

Robin try 2000 grit after sanding with 1000. You'll find the scratch pulls better. I finish in 3000 after my first cut in 2000.
Basically ill compound the 2000 and look for imperfections, then sand with 3000 for final compound before polish.
I highly recommend Mcguires sand paper and compounds.
