His stock came out super nice!! I saw his stock. While the picture looks awesome, the coloring in the sunlight looks even better than what you are seeing in the picture.Robin it looks amazing. You did a great job, I really like the violet.

I tried to counter stain between the figuring a yellow/gold but it just made the purple figuring turn brown. Looked pretty cool but not LSU cool....more like A&M cool.So when are you getting a matching yellow one ! Geau Tigers
Curious if you sanded between coats, how many coats, and type of dye used?I tried to counter stain between the figuring a yellow/gold but it just made the purple figuring turn brown. Looked pretty cool but not LSU cool....more like A&M cool.![]()
That is one Hot Mother .............I love it!!
pm on the wayCurious if you sanded between coats, how many coats, and type of dye used?
I'm also wondering if you were to apply the purple in a strong mix 1st, sand stock, apply additional coats with a slight dilution sanding between coats exposing the hard grain, and finishing with a couple light coats of yellow or vintage amber no sanding should highlight the hard grain.
The highly diluted wash coats shouldn't alter your main color.
Just my random thoughts here.
I still love your outcome.
Is that dyed quilted maple wood? What kind of dye did you use? Top coated with what??
