Wolf KVB 223 M

Preacher

Looking for stuff and found these stored in a ammo can, don't remember ever using them in anything.
Never owned a gas gun either..
Anyone know anything about them other than Wolf brand ??

That little green circle with the M means those are Murom primers.
KVB-223M were considered a good value and good performance in their time. When Uncle Sam got pissed off about Russian behavior, they banned importation of their ammo and components, so we don't see those any more.

Nothing wrong with them, they are certainly worth a try.

I’m down to my last 1000 box.
I wish I had bought more, they were stupid cheap, something like $40.00 for 8000 when I got mine.

Russians version of CCI 450s, good stuff
My experience is that they're the opposite of 450s/41s. They're a mild primer that work outstanding with extruded powders. 450s/41s are much hotter, and yield as much as 60 fps gain in velocity on an equal load in .223.

My suspicion is that the Preacher is taunting us with this glorious find.

I've never seen this packaging exactly, but I remember buying these primers from Wideners at $14.99 per 5k at their cheapest. (before hazmat) I'm still have 23k of these.

Shot a bunch of them in early 2000's in 6 PPC in SRBR. They were silvered colored cups. The non-mag version (copper colored cup) would blank in my PPC loads. Worked fine for .222 class cases.

Preacher. Take the time to work up an extruded powder load in a smaller caliber, and enjoy the excellent SDs these primers will give you.

Don't let the WOLF name make you relegate these to cheap blaster ammo.

In my experience, they aren't hot enough to run in a 308 Palma type load. (The magnum designation must be cup thickness, and not primer hotness) Their mild characteristics work beautifully in a .223 with extruded.

The mag version is a thicker cup. Thats it. There are actual 556 primers that are hotter and a thicker cup. It will have a 556 product number.

I originally got turned on to these about 15 years ago as a cheapo 9mm glock ammo blaster component.

Of course, the striker fired glock didn't reliably ignite these due to the thicker cup. So I started running them in rifle only. Slowly I figured out that even though the weren't good with some ball powder; they were outstanding with extruded.

These primers with Varget, H322, and XBR are primo.

About ten or twelve years ago, Powder Valley had the Tula primers for $1.00, when others were going for $2.00 or more. I bought a lifetime supply and glad I did as those things shoot fantastic. Murom Apparatus made both the Wolff and the Tula primers (same primer in the same plant) in both magnum and non-magnum. They are a little harder to ignite than domestic primers and they got a bad rap from shooters who had excessive "head-space" rounds and didn't know it till they tried a harder primer. They thought the problem was the primer. Anyway - that is something good to find in your own gear! If there is anything I don't like about them, it is that the top of the cups are a bit rounder than most primers which makes them just a little more difficult to get them to flip over in your primer tray, occasionally jamming up a hand primer a little more than other primers. But they shoot great!!! Good find.
