Winter time

Winter is the best time to shoot! One of the few of life’s ironies that works in my favor. The range is empty and barrels keep cool, no bugs, no waiting on people, no mirage. Yup, this world needs more thin blooded snow birds. This cool weather is terrible and dangerous, tell your friends!! Do people get lonely while shooting or something? It’s the true holiday season in multiple ways.

I guess I can only load one at a time. This was Varmint Shooters truck temp, when we set up.

The mound behind the Coyote is a Indian burial mound. There are 6 of them within a half mile of this one. I would really like to know how many Coyotes I have shot off the mound. I would guess 4 to 5 a year over 35 yrs.

It is one of my favorite spots to call from. Any time I have a South to Southeast wind I call it.20210102_103511.jpg

Just thinking of all you fine folks in parts of the country already dealing with snow and inclement weather as I dig my feet in the sand watching the sunset in Ventura, CA.

Happy Holidays to all y'all and your families too.

years back when I was living in the Florida Keys I told my boss I was thinking of going to California for a vacation. His answer: "why? California is full of fruits and nuts, and the ones that aren't are flakes". The year was 1975...

Says it is 4F here at the moment, south central Alberta, might get up into the mid 20's later on. Used to think nothing of it 30 yrs ago, but, the circulation is not what it once was, I feel the cold a lot more than I used to. I'd like to get out and do some shooting, but, have to evaluate how much suck I am willing to tolerate these days. Wind is the determining factor more than anything else.
And this year, we'll take all the snow we can get, need to refill the ponds and hope for some rain next summer, or there will be trouble with crops that is far worse than this year was. Duck and goose hatch took a big hit on it this year, as the ponds were gone in July, large bunch of the natural roosts dried up, reservoirs are way down.

I shot a Remington 22 RF yesterday at my range. It was 20 F and 5 mph wind. I lasted about 10 minutes!

Up here in Warshington it’s wet and cold. For 30+ years it didn’t bother me because the best times to hunt and fish were in inclement weather.
The wife was shocked last year when I told her that I’m getting tired of the weather up here and she agreed and asked what took you so long. Lol

Just lookin at all those pictures of that white stuff makes me get chills . You hearty souls can keep it . I grew up in the "Snow-belt" on the east side of Cleveland . Moved to Phx. forty years ago , and don't miss it at all . And nobody has tried to sell me a shovel or broom for keeping the sunshine off my driveway , either .
