Why I try not to ship via the US Post Office

This is how the USPS delivered a package from Midway today. Dumped feet from the sidewalk; too lazy to walk to the door. It was a UPS Surepost package where the USPS handles the final leg.
These people really don't deserve taxpayer support.

There is a UPS driver in our area that is the same lazy bum. All the drivers, several female, bring the packages to the door. He leaves them out of our sight in front off the garage just feet from the road. I hope to see him to it some day, I will do my best to cause him discomfort with his superiors.

His superiors don’t care. I’ve had rifles get dropped off at the FFL’s door without a signature. Two others were marked undeliverable, no place to drop it off when the driver just didn’t feel like stopping. It was winter and there were no tire tracks or foot prints in the snow. He made absolutely no effort to deliver a package that in one case was three weeks late. They just don’t give a *%#:

"They just don’t give a *%#" No, they don't. But their bosses downtown really hate Congressional enquiries/complaints and I just mailed three of them. Usually it's just too much trouble, but today, I have had enough.

It could have been raining, my mail carrier doesn't know how to close the door
on my mail box and it has been raining a lot.

It,s a bitch.and we pay them. Tommy Mc Service here in San Antonio is the same.

"Squeaky wheel gets the oil." USPS, UPS, FedEx - get photos and politely warn the delivery person. Second occurrence get photos and, unless damaged shipment, politely warn the delivery person you will send complaint. Third occurrence mail/email photo with complaint to local office, regional, and/or corporate.

“I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.” ― John Wayne "The Shootist"

While I was at home I received
an email notice of delivery, so I went outside. Shipping box severely damaged (don't know about contents), sitting opposite "this end up," and left in the rain. I first took pictures then called the credit card company and disputed the charge. Next, I called local FedEx and stated what occurred and they had a shipment blocking my driveway. I gave them one hour to remove before I notified local LE of illegal dumping (I would have pushed it to the edge of the roadway). Contacted vendor (actually manufacturer that had sale) and informed them. They apologized and shipped another and discounted 10%. After an hour I went outside and discovered... POOF!!! Refrigerator disappeared.

about a year ago, a obese green-haired post master tells me that it is her policy to not accept that package because it is labeled to a "gun-related address". That is a true but pathetic story of what some liberals consider their woke mission.

Just recently I found a custom rifle sitting on my front stoop. The box clearly indicated "ADULT SIGNATURE REQUIRED". It was just luck that I was even home because we left for vacation at 6am the next morning.

USPS is beyond saving. You buy something that requires shipping and you do at your own risk. I live in a rural area, I get more of my neighbors mail than they do. God knows what I'm not getting.....it's a really sad state of affairs. Fed Ex is just as bad, UPS marginally better.

So far for years now the only thing I get upset with is when one of the delivery (ups, fed ex, usps) fail to put the package on the inside of the fence.

I recently had a package delivered to the post office. I printed out the tracking sheet that said my package had been delivered to the post office around 0700 that morning. About 1100, I went to the post office, like I do daily, and my package was not in my box. I went inside, the only one in line, and showed the clerk my tracking info and asked if I could pick up my package.
He looked at the tracking and told me that I would have to wait until tomorrow for the package. I asked if he could get it out of the back and he said , no.
I looked him straight in the eye and told him that was nothing more than pure damn laziness. He didn't like it but I had my say. Had to wait until the next day.
This is not a large metro PO. Small town.

If I ship a firearm for repair, I NEVER put "gun shop" or anything related to gun in the address. If need be I just address to the owner of the business. Based on several experiences, many PO clerks don't know their ar** from a hole in the ground.

I shipped a shotgun to a repair shop a few years ago. A local PO clerk asked what was inside and I was honest (dumb) enough to tell her. She said she couldn't ship a firearm. I told her she was wrong and please talk to her super. She came back and said yes we can but it has to be broken down, which in BS. I re-grouped and told her it was. Off it went and got there in good condition.

Their plain ignorance of their own regulations is astounding!

For the most part my USPS experiences have been positive. However, there are times when you wonder how these people got their jobs. One clerk told me I couldn't send a shotgun to a dealer because I wasn't an officer in the U.S. Army. Her supervisor knew better.

Around here USPS is really good......LOCALLY. The problem ends up being before it gets here.

FedEx is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE here. The only way it could get worse is no delivery at all and they lost it. Stuff I get through them is ALWAYS LATE AND DAMAGED if/when I get it and it isn't returned be cause the lazy SOB doesn't want to delivery it.

UPS does a fair job here.......usually late, but in one piece.

Gave up on USPS years ago and will pay UPS more if there is ever a choice.

Midway lost my business long ago, for the use of "Sure post" among other things...

Shipped a Trijicon scope via USPS. Wrapped it in bubble wrap, obviously not enough. This was the result. I figured someone along the line needed a hammer.

I ordered some adaptors for an air compressor (for a competition air pistol, in case you're wondering) from a shop in the UK. Ordered on Tuesday. I guess they work late there, as it hit their loading dock before I left work Tuesday evening (in northern California.) Parts arrived in Los Angeles Wednesday afternoon, where they had to clear customs and were turned over to USPS. I had the parts in my mailbox Monday.

In contrast, I've ordered Amazon Prime stuff from SoCal that's taken a week and a half to get to me. Normal cross-country is at least a week, no matter who is carrying it.
