Why doesnt everyone fill out their profie?

I think it would be nice if all the members filled out their profile so we could at least see where a person is from especially when they need help or something that I have. That way if they live near you ,you could lend a hand to help them out. Unfortunately most wont put in the simplest stuff like what state or country and the persons age and what they like to do etc. You don't have to put real personal info down but just something. Some sites I have visited require certain imfo to be public . Nothing that would hurt anyone's privacy but just general stuff. Enough of my rant but it has been bugging me for along time. One other thing should be a requisite is to give the site your full address and a good phone number so no one pulls a fast one.

Not trying to pull anything as honesty is the best policy isn't it? Over the past 6 months guys have been ripped off by sellers who have total anonymity with no way to contact them.I am not advocating anyone publish their address for full public view,just so the moderator would know whether we are legit or not. I don't even understand why you would take offense to this in the first place. It was just an idea and I am sure there are others on here that wouldn't mind being able to see what state you or anyone is from.

Why are you thinking I want to cause some unforeseen problems.It was just an idea. Tatoo in a lip,now that's funny. You wouldn't feel better knowing that a first time scammer couldn't just post and take your money? If we registered our name as a seller then you could at least write a certified letter to the person pulling the fast one. What are you really worried about? State it clear and to the point so I can understand why my idea wouldn't better protect buyers from true scammers. Donavan a lot of guys sell on here for years and don't become site contributors ever.

How about to sell you must be a site contributor/registered member? One could always verify if they are that worried before sending money. Sometimes people can police themselves to keep things honest.. I feel it shouldn't be left as a burden to the site because many rules turn it into a pain in the a$$

For anyone worried about privacy, THERE IS NONE, especially if you use one of the social media sites, joined any organization, registered in a political party, acquired a professional license, shot in any match, bought something on ebay, used paypal, made a comment on a forum or blog, ad nauseum. Type your name in one of the search engines & you'll see what I mean. (according to the web, I'm the only person in the U.S. with my name). My stuff is in my profile.

Jon, I have no problem filling out the info and have. Most on the internet prefer anonymity. That way they can say what they want (alter ego running the brain, Walter Mitty style), and remain anonymous. No need to be responsible for their actions, as no one truly knows who they are.

I have read here and on other sites about how people have been deceived including me. It just sucks. I didn't want to start a war of words about this. Give me your ideas rather than just crucifying me.I would like to see real solutions.But alas it was just something that has been on my mind for awhile and personal attacks against me solve nothing. Hey if you want the status quo so be it. If you have nothing good to say other than being bored and taking cheap shots at me come up with a real solution.

Have a cell phone they can track you while it is even off. Get on a computer and they can find you, They even watch though the camera to see what you are doing. I heard it don't even have to be turned on. hogparol is right. How about T-Rex? Matt

On another site that I moderated on, a neo-Nazi type took,offense when I banned him.

Because he knew my name and general location, he was able to get my home number.

He called and left threats on my home phone to burn down my house,with my dogs inside.

It freaked out my wife and ended up causing us a lot of trouble and expense.

It's far better in my mind to leave things alone. If someone wants to ask or give aid, they can trade info between themselves.

It's fair to ask that the site keep info for those who want to do trade. I feel other then that if you must know you could ask, everyone has different reasons..

Let me tell you why I don't fill out my profile and suggest that we put out as little info as we need to. Someone got mad at me over a sale, and this man got furious over this incident. I was brand new to this forum and really had no idea what I was doing and probably didn't handle it well on my end and I may have hit a wrong key and typed something I didn't mean to send but I was accused of stuff you wouldn't believe, I was called stuff that attacked my character. I told him I was sorry, very sorry, but that wasn't enough. This person actually stocked me, stocked me in this forum and another forum. This person was trying to find out where in my state I lived, see where I'm going with this. So my advice is don't fill out any personal info. I do know what hog said is true.
