Why doesnt everyone fill out their profie?

I've have noticed lately the way to get our email address is they (scammers) join up here and other forums and go through the classifieds and see something you've listed for sale and post on the ad
"Interested in you rifle e mail me" or whatever the item may be. They always are newly joined and have
1 or 2 posts. It think it's better to communicate through PM s at least until you know they are legit.

How about to sell you must be a site contributor/registered member? One could always verify if they are that worried before sending money. Sometimes people can police themselves to keep things honest.. I feel it shouldn't be left as a burden to the site because many rules turn it into a pain in the a$$

Ray

Going back a week there was a post about a buyer receiving a wrong amount of bullets from the seller. It went on for quite a bit and it eventually gets 'locked'.
It turns out to get resolved.
However that seller was/is a site contributor. ( I looked at the profile, posts, feedback etc.) I really did not see much that would be a red flag not to buy from him. I have used the 'site contributor' as one guideline. Maybe in this case it did work as satisfaction was achieved albeit after a lot of typing.
I am unfamiliar with "Registered Member". What is that exactly and where is it found?
I wish there was a sure way to ascertain the legitimacy of a buyer or seller. (Maybe it can not be done?)
I've had nothing but success on this site so far....I hope that does not mean I'm NEXT!

When I look at the profile and there is no information and has no sales and 1 star I just do not buy from them, so far I have had no problems.

Just an Idea.

This latest feedback from you fellas is what I hoped for in the first place. It gives me a fresh perspective on this situation. As far as stalking and death threats I would have called the FBI and had him arrested. But then again they would probably say if he hasn't done anything yet , we cant prosecute. That is what cops tell me in the past when things like this come up. Lets face it , most of the sellers and buyers on this site are seriously good people and I am proud to have done business with them. We have a fantastic site and the mods do their job but I was hoping for a solution to stop these first time sellers that sign up and do bad deals. Some don't though and some post and we never hear from them again because of cross listing. I have done it (cross listing) before but never again as it can cause confusion and hard feelings. Maybe through further dialogue we can come up with a better way to solve this type of problem. Keep it coming fellas and thanks.

On the classified site there is a heading "GOOD GUYS LIST". (TOOLS, DIES, etc..)
This has been LOCKED for some time.
What is the purpose of leaving it there? Was it redundant to 'feedback?'
Should it be UNLOCKED? Was it useful or reliable in its time?

Back in the good days, classified ads were on
a different format. It listed the item w/ALL of the sellers
location/contact information. The entire transaction
was handled off board, by private email or ph.
The ad was not open for comment by non interested buyers
like all boards have today, which in most cases turns a sellers
ad into a chat thread.
If you are paranoid about your privacy, you need to stay out
of the internet sales/buying market.

I visit a fishing chat board where if your profile isnt complete,
and you attempt to sell anything, your post is locked,
and a boating board which requires the profile and 25 posts
to be entitled to list an item for sale.

These methods will smoke out people who have less than
honest intentions. LDS

I'm with Matt even though it may sound paranoid. If your not filling out the profiles because of fear of a job or political alliance and maybe government then I would recommend zero phones or computer traffic for ya.. Even the new plates on your cars are being used to automatically pull registration and other info by the LEO's not to mention big business is following your every move to market to you.. If some computer commando can hack Jennifer lawrence's photos then I'm guessing the big government can track your every move. Every device has a I.P. number, even if you payed cash at a convenient store they can track the number to the manufacturer and check when it got scanned and sold to review the video footage..

On another note, I think we are getting $crewed with the electronic voting machines..

I know this is off subject, but electronic voting machines are the most dangerous piece of technology we have in this country today. STUPID

I will not have a hijack(LOL) so for the record George soro's is a principal owner of the company that controls voting machines. Now back to your regularly scheduled program. Thanks LDS for your insight and I agree.

With SOROS owning the machines, you can expect
an honest vote count, like you can expect Obama
to tell the truth.
NOT LIKELY !!! LDS

I'm not so sure the government can track anything after watching the IRS scam segment on 60 Minutes last night. They are sending out refund checks to online crooks en mass. Also, forgot to mention the three missing afgans in Massachusetts!

IRS and the media wouldn't steer ya the wrong way?

I wouldn't read to far into politics for your government capabilities. We can audit and track the hell out of TEA party and returning Vet's. They don't miss a beat if you are right wing or a traditional American, but If your Islamic, Mexican or Libtard they couldn't catch you jumping the White House fence..lol

Ray

timeout, you're talking about US government shenanigans there.
Very often the government creates problems -with an agenda to 'solve' them.
And it's never good for humankind.

For instance, why do you suppose the government allows so many 50cal guns to go to pretty much anyone?
You think it's because the government is pro-2nd?
No,,, they are feeding us rope to hang ourselves with.

They know that eventually some dumba$$ will shoot up a school or something, and then the whole damn world is gonna wonder why American dumba$$es need 'LONG RANGE' guns..
And they'll beg the government to do something about it!

Oh, and as far as REQUIRING more profile info here; I'm against it.

I don't fill it out so that some cubicle dwelling dork will have to make one or two more keystrokes when he wants to "prove' i did something. Or said something. Or thought something.

The difference between the IRS tea Party focus and the loss of your tax dollars to scammers is a matter of motivation. Values guide decisions, one way or another...

All I would like to see is what state we live in .As far as the profile with imfo in it would be privately held by the site only if you are a seller and that is it. You already have an electronic foot print on this site anyways.

How would knowing the state benefit more than the positive or negative feed back system that is in place now?
How would knowing the state a person lives in benefit you at a all? If you buy or sell you get that info thru pm to make the transaction

I just don't get where your coming from with this
