Which reticle would you choose?

I have a.reticle very much like the first one on my golden eagle. I like it very much.

Today was the first time using it. Just sighting in and breaking in a new rifle.

Dot is a nice size, the crosshairs are fine and the center is not too busy

I can see it being real handy for quick adjustments for windage. Being a dialer don't expect to be using it much for holdover

I grew up with the crosshair scopes. I like the new ones with moa hash marks. It gives me a reference that just crosshairs doesn't.

I can see a benchrest shooter shooting at the same distance all the time might prefer just the fine crosshairs

FCH.....My getting older eyes don't like the " Dancing Dot"....o_O
I prefer the left one for the same reason. With my eyes (see thread on glasses) a thin crosshair gets lost in the target black. I need those thick reticle "trunks" to be able to find the crosshairs.

I like the first one because it gives you the option to dial for elevation and hold off for wind but I don't like the dot. This is just me but, if those were the only two choices, I would continue to look at other brands. The last thing I want to do is put up the money for as good of optics as I can afford and then be dissatisfied with the reticle later. Everyone has different ideas and different financial circumstances in life though so give it your best effort and enjoy whatever you decide on. Good shooting!!!

Personally, I don't like "busy" reticles. However, ALL reticle choices really do come down to "personally". "Personally", I think that the "old" CH3 reticles, UNwisely discontinued by Nightforce, was the finest reticle ever designed for precision shooting. They replaced it with the NP-2DD, which is a good idea, however, they have the reticle-dots in the wrong place, i.e. upside down! So now I try, if at all possible, to get a crosshair with a 3/32nd dot in the middle. It is not "busy" yet gives me the precision I desire. It is NOT a CH3, however, it is the best design in it's place I can find.

I like the old "duplex" reticles. The large outer lines can get you on target for the close shots and you have the fine center reticles when more precision is required.

This probably won't be helpful, but...... for target shooting:

100-200yds - Fine Cross Hair
300-600yds - ECR - helps reference distance.
