Which 6? GT, XC, XC II, Creed, C47???

I remember when it was very popular and I was a Precision Shooter subscriber. Do you know quite a few shooters still using it?

Interesting, being as the 6XC came out in 2003, and the 6×47 came out in 2005

You might want do a little more research. the 6X47 Swiss Match was designed further back than that. It was not imported into the USA until later and even then in very small amounts. Just because it was not here in the USA does not mean that is when it was designed and used in Europe prior to is importation here.

I think David made it pretty clear that the 6xc tipped the hat to the Swiss Match. He made changes to accommodate his across the course goals, and to make it where it could be made from 22-250 brass. Obviously, it must have some things in common with 22-250 also.

In my mind, in the beginning, he took the 6br front end and stuck it on a 22-250 case. Which was a great idea. Not saying those were his thoughts at all... But that was the result, pretty much.

Heck man, there is nothing new under the sun. People bad mouth whatever these days and say ridiculous things. I guess it would not be that far fetched that someone would say "ain't nuthun but a shortened thirty ot six".

For all the guys that rant and rave about 6XC….

Will it shoot a bunch of consecutive groups in the .2s?

If it will, I want one.

Clancy, my first 6 XC is a 31" barrel, 8T. I put on a Tuner. My load with the Berger 105g Match is 3150, and I am shooting groups small enough to enter a NBRSA National match, H4350, Rem 7 1/2. My brass is formed from Lapua 308 brass with the small primer pocket.

The Bullet's boattail/ shank is above the shoulder neck junction of the case.

Whidden dies are used, and the load shoots tiny, tiny groups, thanks to Gunsandgunsmithing Tuner. I have shot more zeros with this rig than any of the many 6 PPC's I have owned through the years. Groups in the 1's are common, with the rule of thumb being that a group in the mid 2's is huge. Wind of course, is always a factor.

As a test of the cartridge design, I wanted to use some really horrible brass formed from Chinese 308 Machine gun brass, PMC 308, and Lake City '96. In all cases, groups are tiny. Primer pockets did not last in the machine gun brass as you would expect, but accuracy was in the mid-2's.

I have never shot any of Tubb's brass. I need to order some.

I put 900 rounds on 30 of the prepped Lapua Palma brass, still shooting 13 of those cases. I wrecked some of the brass using R#17, where the accuracy node is at 3250 fps with the same Berger 105s. The primer pockets lasted 4-6 firings with R#17, but those cases had a lot of firings on them previously.

I did test different primers with H4350, Rem 7 1/2 is the hands down winner, CCI br4, cci 450, and Tula Mag primers not even close.

The 6 XC case holds about, 10 grains of Powder MORE than, the 6 mm PPC, and Other Benchrest 6 mm's as,..
it was Designed for, Long Range use ( specifically, 1,000 Yard Target, w/ 115 DTAC'S, by Tubb ).
With a Pro Custom Built, 6XC Rifle, w/ a 1-12 to 1-13.5 Twist, BRUX or other Top, "Name Brand" BR barrel and MATCH Grade, 60 to 70 grain Bullets, I Have,.. NO Doubt that,.. it would Agg.,. in the 2's !
Most All, of Us 6 XC shooters, are using 1-7.5 to 1-8 or 1-9 twist Barrels and 90, 95, 105, 107 grain and Bigger, Bullets that were NOT designed for,. 100 to, 300 Yd Benchrest.
The 6 XC with 105, 107, 108 to, 115 gr. High BC Bullets,.. Comes into, "it's Own",.. PAST,. 600 Yards.
With the PROPER, Bullets / Barrel and Rifle Builder, I wouldn't Bet against, the 6 XC, agging 2's, Personally

Best group, 5 Shots, One Hole,.. .214 ctr to ctr. with, a Criterion Barrel and 107 SMK's,.. "Jammed"

Yup,.. $2700 for, an H-S Precision Stock, New Rem 700 SS "Lefty" Action, $ 150 for a matching SS Trigger guard, Criterion Barrel, Brake, Jewell Benchrest Trigger, Crown Ridge barrel Nut, Vortex Viper 6x-24x Scope, Burris 30mm Rings, Glass Bed kit, Jig to Hold Action, Headspace Gauges, etc. As a former Gun Smith, I did, all the "Work" myself,.. ( Installing everything / Glass Bedding ) Got "Tip's" from YouTube as Rem-Age install, was New to me..
Not including, 200 rounds of Norma Brass, Forster Dies, 2k, F-210-M primers, 7 Pounds of StaBall 65, and Lots of, Sierra and Berger Bullets. ( Accuracy ain't,.. Cheap ! )
My Buddy, Pres Trump, sent me, a $2,000 check during Covid and I put It to,.. GOOD, use !
The $2K check, took most of the "Sting" out of building,.. This, Rifle !
REAL Benchrest Rifles, Gun Smithed By, PRO's cost,... $5,000 to $12,000 or, More.
For Sage Rats, Rock Chucks, PD's and Yotes, in Idaho, I don't "Need" a Rifle that shoot's, Zero's to, 1's and,..
