Where to start with 6.5 CM Ammo?

Hornady Black 140 grain worked well in a 22” 8 twist barrel I had. Five rounds under a penny at 160 yds. I sold the ammo to friend of mine after trading that rifle. He was getting 1/2” at 100 yds through his AR.

It’s worth trying.

I have been using Starline 6.5 CM brass for 4 years now. I have not been able to find new brass anywere on line.
SO I emailed Starlilne this week to find out when it will be back on the shelves.

Here is there response:
Good morning.

Right now it's really impossible for us to estimate any timeframes or ship dates due to the volume of orders in our system. Your best bet is going to be keep an eye on the website and place a backorder as soon as they open up. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you,
Emma

I ordered some 38 special that said it was on backorder last Thursday and received it today if that means anything.

This is a poor time to be getting into any shooting that may involve a lot of ammo. Everything is expensive and difficult to get. If you find factory ammo that works well, buy as much as you can get. Getting into reloading now is no better. It will be very expensive and stuff is hard to get. Do your best to get enough of a good loading to get you started. Save your brass, while starting to buy what you need to reload. In the long run, you will save some on reloading, but it takes years to recoup the initial cost.

I have not shot one round of factory ammo in either one of my Creeds. I am not a hair splitter, either. I have had good luck hitting targets sub-moa out to 530 yards (my range distance). I like the Hornady 147 ELDM and the Hornady Interlock. Both are very accurate and both kill deer very well for me-which is my main focus. I think that you would find the cheaper Hornady ammo will do what you want, at least to have a starting point.
