When will the Lapua Brass drought end?

Key word Joe Dumb. I made no mention of the clown in office.
You'll still be one of the first to be 'invited' to that new re-education camp Hil is building (anyone who posts here, or has ever posted here will be at the top of her list). As for the Lapua shortage, many (most) of the countries that were once part of the Soviet Bloc still have warehouses full of that Soviet military equipment, including AKs that feed 7.62 x 39. Lapua may manufacture more then small arms ammunition, I don't know. I think they're all (ex Soviet Bloc countries) stocking up, not just on 7.62, but anything they might have arms for. Didn't I read this morning that Norway bought back an ammo plant and are planning on making it active again , even though they're not an EU member? Norway is one of the founding members of NATO. (remember, when the Soviet Union collapsed they even left nukes behind in those previously 'occupied' countries)

So it feels to me like the recreational Lapua brass will continue to be on hold for at least another year or so, if nothing else happens, and the Ukraine situation just continues like it has been. All while EU nations build their ammo stock up.

But, if the situation worsens, then all bets are off.

Let’s hope the latter doesn’t happen.

Colt told the world many years ago that they cared nothing about selling to civilians and wanted only military contracts, and that and greed is what is fueling this shortage to the best of my knowledge.
Fear and greed drive all the markets for everything.
Recall the GREAT toilet paper shortages?
You want brass. Two years ago you had to fight to get a roll of paper towels. Wonder where empty brass fits into the order of things?

I dont understand the pause on all these popular cases honestly…I get that 6BR and Grendel are low volume, compared to military requirements, but is Lapua a big military vendor for ammo?

If they are still at full production volume, where is the brass/ammo going? Ukraine ain’t really shooting it, are they?
LAPUA is a division of NAMMO like we are. NAMMO is about the 90th largest arms manufacturer in the world. SO, they are making ammunition for NATO and European militaries to replenish their supplies due to ammunition shipped to the UKRAINE. The cartridges are on a "postponed production list" so their production will start again when supplies of ammunition have been replenished. When that will be is not known at this time. Our apologies for this inconvenience.
Who knows, with wars in GOG and MAGOG we may be hearing a trumpet soon.

I think all the big brass MFGs are working 24-7 to make 7.62, 5.56 and whatever esoteric brass is asked for by Uncle Sam and European countries.
And do not forget the new type of 6.8 ammo needing stockpiled.
And with the greater rate of the newer M3-50cal, well, that's going
to eat up some raw material ?? They got that air cooled puppy running
at 1000 rds per minute ?? Yeah, the brass foundry's alone are hard
pressed to produce for the sheet and coil company's the cases are
blanked from. Scrap brass alone is at a premium.....

Great info. Yeah, think of the massive brass consumption you referenced! I am sure there is more profit in government sales than retail buyers of brass. I had not thought of the new rounds you mentioned. And this goes equally for copper.

Over the wkend I ordered 6BR brass form Grafs--they had IN stock Peterson and Norma--sure--they are not going to have Lapua but I can't believe that the Peterson and Norma will not shoot for me--I got it with free shipping as well--making the best of things is my motto
As I've mentioned several times before here, I've been using Norma cases in one of my 6BRs for a few years with great results. Not pooch loads....3,700++ with Nosler 55 BTips. ;)

Good shootin' :) -Al
