What's your floater scope ?

No sure how many other do this but I have a scope that's just kinda a floater. Is one I can just really shoot nice groups with and it just floats around from rifle to rifle to test loads because some of them wear a 1-4 or a digital NV or something else that's not the best at/for groups shooting or load testing. Practical use yes ,killing stuff yes , shooting big holes ....eghhhh.
Anyhow mines a Nikon buckmaster 3-9. Sounds stupid I know but I've shot more small groups ( for me at least ) with this then anything, why ? Idk it's just easy to shoot good groups with it for some reason.
Anyhow what's y'all's if you have a floater ? :)

The only thing I don't have mounted currently is a NF 15-55x52 Comp that I had mounted on a Bergara B14R that I sold to a friend last summer. Not sure what I will do with it, (maybe sell?) but who knows...

First model year 4.5-30x50 Bushnell XRS. Currently sitting on the
grandsons CZ-457. That scope has been on a at least a dozen rifles
the past 12 years. Other then a Weaver K-12, It's been one of my
favorite scopes for woodchuck rifles.

Leupold Vari-X III 2.5-8
It's floated around, but mostly because I LOVE hunting with iron sights. Anytime someone wants to borrow a rifle and looks at the peep like it's some sort of tumor, I throw on the Leupold.

Mine is an old 36x Leupold that I picked up used for $200.00 many moons ago. A great find at a small gun shop that just had it sitting on the shelf. Goes from gun to gun, working up loads, and then back in the safe. Kind of like an old friend at this point.

This is what I use my floater for most of the time. Load development for rifles that will wear iron sights. My hawke has been on 2 different win 94s, a savage 340, two different savage 24s, a 98 mauser sporter, and a 1899 savage in 303 savage.

16x is the perfect top end magnification for load development with those types of rifles.

I've always had good luck with the old Vari-X III 6.5 x 20 scopes. I gather them up when I get a chance if the price is reasonable. I try to have one or two of those around to stick on a hunting rifle that I happen to be working with.

My floater for a long time was a Weaver T36. Always 100% reliable. Great for load development with dot reticle and good magnification. Got out of shooting matches and now use a super sniper 16x for load workups and tinkering. Sure do miss that 36x!!
