Buying scope- factory refurbished vs. Demo

Hi- 1st post here, but I use the same handle on other shooting forums. I shoot NRA high power a lot, and am moving from Service rifle to a M70 bolt action match rifle. I am going to put a scope on for load development, then use the scope on a long range rifle I just got, a good deal on ! ) and occasionally a Win 52d . I have narrowed down my choices to a weaver 6-24 or more probably a nikon buckmaster 6-18x. SWFA has both demo's and factory refurbished of the Nikon; the refurbished ones are $20 more. So what makes them worth $20 more ? My guess is that they know it works properly, the demo SHOULD,they don't know why it wouldn't) but who knows how much it was handled or fiddled with . Can anyone enlighten me ? scopes are something I haven't messed w/ much ....TIA

A couple of years ago I bought a Weaver 3x9 Tactical from SWWA, I don't remember if it was a demo or a trade-in. It was a good scope at a good price but there was a flaw on the front lens. Weavers warranty was for the original owner but I called Weaver just to ask what it might cost to replace the lens.
They told me to send it in and let them evaluate the problem. They repaired it at no cost except for shipping.

Excellent customer service! And I was a very happy customer.

I haven't had luck finding warranties posted anywhere. I think leupold transfers; I'm not sure of any others. SWFA says warranty for both ones I'm looking at. Ijust don't want to use it. I buy a scope 'cause I want it - NOW.
