What's your dream build for the new year?

It is my intention to put together an all stainless, all weather, 223 bolt gun with a 9 twist number 1 contour barrel. Synthetic stock, DBM and a good trigger and scope. Just not sure which action I will use...probably some aftermarket custom. I might even go ahead and make this one an Ackley Improved. Sort of a "mountain" rifle, but with a long barrel.

Well I am planning on building a 300 WSM. I bought a trued 700 action from NW Action works. I will probably use a Criterion or Rock creek barrel with a barrel nut. I will with out a doubt put on an HS Precision stock like I have on three other guns. I like to keep the feel the same on my rifles just for the heck of it. I do have one with a McMillan but it is similar to the vertical grip of the HS Precision ones. Not sure about what trigger yet, probably a Timney.

I got the jump on the new year. Just finished up building a 28 Nosler, Brux 1-8 fluted #5, GunWerks action, Harrel's brake, H.S. stock and Shilen trigger to shoot the Berger 195s. Just need to figure out what glass to use.

Whew, that's a relief. For the way your post started, I thought you were going to go with a Creedmoor.View attachment 1030661
OK Hogpatrol I guess I have sinned.......... Just started a new Creedmoor, Borden BRMXD action, Mcmillan F class stock, Jewell Trigger, Krieger 6.5 1:8 twist 1.250, Yep I know what you're thinking but I've been winning with it for the last few years.

All good parts so I guess you can be forgiven. :D Good luck with your new rifle.

I have a friend who harvests walnut and maple trees, slabs them, and air dries them. He also has a pantagraph machine. I have a pair of four year old 95% inletted Bastogne walnut blanks finish drying in my shop. They are mirror twins, that is, they were from each side of the stump center cut. The grain mirrors the other one almost identically. I got a deal by gambling on the outcome before the saw cuts were made and paying cash; but it was still $1800 for the pair. I also have a pair of unpitted 1909 Argentine Mausers, and most of the stuff to build a 6,5x68 and 8X68 Shuler hunting rifles. They will be classic Len Brownell-style with all the trinkets; think NECG catalog fantasy fulfilled. With luck they will be done in October. Lord willing, the doctor will release me to travel to Africa one more time before I am too old to enjoy a last hunt with a good PH friend in RSA.

Be careful with walnut wood, the fine dust is a killer. Has mold in it

For me it will be a 308 F/tr rifle. It will be on a Pierce dual port, left bolt titanium action and Farley trigger. Barrel will be a 10" twist Bartlein and will wear a Nightforce Comp scope. The stock will be a carbon fibre/wood laminate with a Ruckers bump buster recoil absorber.

I have a couple of Remington 700 short actions that I've cleaned up. I'm going to build a couple of 6 BR sporters, one for my 14 year old daughter (she can shoot!) and one for my wife. My wife isn't 'into it' like my daughter, so I'll make sure there's an adjustable stock on one of them. Could end up being a father/daughter thing.

I'm in the process of picking out the components. Excepting the actions, scope bases and rings I haven't settled on anything else.

I just have to get my head around my little girl out-shooting me. Maybe now she'll leave my .20 Practical alone . . .
