WHAT'S THE PROBLEM

Are you neck sizing only?
If so you might need a redding body die or their competition shell holders to set your shoulders back .002' to .003'

I had this problem on my 1K rifle, bumped my shoulders bac .002', been fine ever since

SILVEREAGLE,
THANKS FOR THE REPLY. YES, I AM FL SIZEING. THIS PROBLEM MAY HAVE STARTED WHEN I CHANGED CANS OF POWDER. I'M USING 51.5 GR. OF H4831SC WITH A SIERRA 142, FED. 210M AND LAPUA CASES. I HAD CHRON. BEFORE AND THEY WERE RUNNING 2875 IN COLD WEATHER. I CHECKED THEM THE OTHER DAY AND THEY WERE 2975+. THOUGHT IT MAY BE THAT THE CASES NEEDED TRIMMED, SO I TRIMMED THEM TO A FACTORY LAPUA . DIDN'T HELP. DROPPED CHARGE DOWN TO 49.5 AND IT MADE IT A LITTLE EASIER TO OPEN BUT STILL NOTICIABLE.I DID NOT CHRON. THE 49.5 ROUNDS. STILL A FACTORY CASE DOSE NOT DO IT. MY CASES MEASURE THE SAME AND A FACTORY.

Sounds like you gained a 100 fps because of the additional heat of summer time over cooler temps....
Never a good idea to max out a load in the cooler months, and then shoot them in the heat of summer...
tweak the load a little and you'll be fine......

Are you jamming the bullets on the first firing/fire forming? If not, your cases may be slamming into the bolt head and chamber, rather than forming to it. This will cause a stiff bolt on the 2nd firing. I did the same thing with my 6.5-284.

Before putting powder and bullet in for the 2nd and 3rd firing, put the sized empty case in the rifle and see if it provides the same problem. If it does not, it is not a sizing/trimming issue. Next, put in a loaded round that is on the 2nd or 3rd firing in the rifle, but do not fire it, just put it in and take it back out. If no problem, then the problem is occurring after firing and is load related.

rbrookswv .......

When in doubt, take some measurements. You need to always headspace on the shoulder. Don't guess how to do it right. Check out our website for more information on that.
