What rifle ??

Anyone have any experience with the savage mk2 tr. or b22 precision

I helped score a match last fall where there were 3 MK2's competing. For the price point they seem to shoot pretty well. 2 of them finished high in the top 10 of the match and the other was pretty low scoring. I suspect those scores were reflective of shooter ability though. JME.

I agree that the Tika and CZ's mentioned are quite good, but factory rifles can be a barrel lottery. Add some relatively new to benchrest shooters to a factory rifle and limited ammo and it's pretty confusing to know exactly what to get or recommend. JMHO.WD

I had a MkII TRR-SR a few years ago and it was a pretty shooter. I wasn’t competing at the time, just shooting groups at 50yds. I didn’t have a good rest setup or a good scope. Looking back, with those items upgraded I believe it would have been very competitive.

I started out with a Savage MkII and it was just ok on accuracy, but a decent starter. I now have a Bergara B14R as my bolt gun and couldn’t be happier with it. It is a REM 700 clone style action and uses full size AICS pattern mags, plus takes most REM 700 accessories like triggers and stocks which makes it nice for customizing.

I own 5 savages, 1 cz, 2 annie 64 and an annie 54 and find that they all shoot in proportion to cost!

I see about the same in the rifles I shoot against.

We had a lil 50,75,100 match last weekend. There was a vudoo, one rim x, one 64 Annie, a mixture of tikka,cz and savages. The Annie won it with tikka close behind and the rim x, vudoo, and a cz were all within striking distance. Any of these will shoot well if you feed it what it likes in fun and club level shoots, now registered serious br matches are probably a different story nowadays.

What can I say except, a lot of people buy the Tikka T1X. So many in fact around the world they can't keep them in stock.
Thanks for the info. I am either buying a tikka or cz mtr. Just can’t decide lol

I actually was looking for an MTR at the same time as the Tikka T1X. The Tikka T1X showed up first so I bought it and canceled the hunt for the MTR. Wish I had bought both now. The Tikka shoots very well with SK Standard Plus. I keep up on the rimfire forum here because I'm trying to learn how to shoot them better. There's an awful lot of good things said on here about both rifles. I actually wanted the MTR more, but I'm happy, for now. Decisions, decisions. If you are making a choice between the two, just a suggestion, buy the MTR. It cost a bit more, and you could always scrape the coin together for the Tikka next year or decide your happy. I better shut up, or I'll be back on the hunt for an MTR. Good luck in your decision.

Thanks I appreciate the info

I have a savage mark 11 tr shoots cci sv pretty dang good hovers around .4 .5 groups at 50 yards throws a random shot here and there. Have a target at 100 yards with 3 or 4 5 shot groups on it with a average under 1 inch. For what it is it shoots. It seems to have a point of aim poi issue after a good amount of rounds fired poi changes. And seems to float around some. Not good for ARA. It hovers around a average 2200 score on ARA targets. I have cz 457 mtr awesome wood on it. It shoots very tight and scores lots of perfect scores on ARA targets. this is my take on it and its only 1 sample size.
