What kind of scope should I put on my Remington 700 .30-06 for deer?

All in all I think there is some valuable information here, I read some of these forums that are for beginners and I enjoy helping them out with what I can. I also appreciate that this one is for more accuracy minded veterans.

well there is an answer...
ignore the posts....to not add to the babble..

ask a mod to lock the post with directions to use the search engine.....

but then....how much did you know when you started.......

was there a qualifier at signup..that said experienced shooters only....??
Stool, when I started I read my butt off. I didnt post for years. I still find most answers I have with a search. I am far less offended by a very basic question that could have been for in a search on guns and ammo.com than I am about the way some people will come off as internet experts. Their way is right and will argue to the death to prove it to some one on the internet they don't even know. I have watched posters tell world record holders on here how they are doing it all wrong. The problem with that is they quit posting because they get tired of know it alls. We all loose out on learning from their knowledge at that point. There are some posters who are very, curt, your one ( I may be guilty too) ;) it turns people away. If Tony Boyer posted here, a guy that started reloading last year would probably tell him hes been doing it all wrong. Prime example would be the neck size vs fl sizing thread. It turned into a mess and no one learns. Lets make a rule, post facts based on actual person experience from valid testing, not something you read? And be polite, I am going to try that as well, ;D

Alex, you are right, that is a good post. I'm guilty of some of those things myself. I do use the search engine alot, when I can't find what I'm looking for then I ask a question or two. I have learned somuch from this forum, and still do constantly. I would like to thank all that take the time to help and contribute to this fine site.

Thanks,
Don Dunlap

Is it me or does anyone else feel like the thread is clearly to instigate? I haven't read to many threads were the OP actually takes advice even with the SENIOR members all the way down to the rookie. I guess we or you "senior members" have answered everything by now so I guess the forum should be shut down and folks can just look to the archives..

For the OP, I'm partial to the Barska brand, especially the sweet 17 I have on my .338 lapsalua. The lines on the reticule line up perfectly with my compressed loads at 1000. I'm only a couple inches low & to the left but I use Kentucky windage to over come that problem. I'm sighted dead on at 500. Might be overkill for the '06 but hope this helps. Hog

If this forum is getting too off topic for you at times, you can always go to Benchrest Central for accuracy.

Not really. It's a different circus but unfortunately a lot of the same clowns.

These forums are mild compared to a few of the other gun related sites. R*C and Sn**He. come to mind. They seem to have more than their fare share of the masters of the universe. ::)
