Any chance the brass had a Lacquer finish on it before you started sizing?

It kinda sorta looks like an oil residue stain but I'll go with Searcher, OR Damascus brass hand forged.

Were they DRIED real good or just left to dry on their own?
I have has mark like that if the brass wasn't wiped off of ant excess water.
I roll mine on a towel then into a warm oven to dry.
