What happened to the secondary market?

At least NZ is still straight forward about allowing it’s citizens to have suppressers and semi-autos… Unlike your neighbour’s across the ditch… {:~/
Sorry - we lost semi-autos a few years back. As for the neighbours, well, they just can't stop voting for socialists, so....

BTW...When asked by tourists how far Australia is, we tell them that we walk across at low tide!

You could also take them to Piha, rent them a Tinny, and tell them to just head off West… It’s just over the horizon….:p

I know they rounded up all the “Military Assault Rifles” after that idiot Australian attack in Christchurch but thought that other types of semi autos were still allowed.

tmwinds,

the difference between the two is whether you want to stop "trimming waste" from a bloated socialist government or not. The firings are about 99% new (under a year employees) hires.
If I were Trump I would have just said 10% cuts across the board, excepting the Military. It is that, or accept ever increasing taxes... That was the Dems platform.

No - all gone, except for rimfires. Strangely, I can have a full auto on my collectors licence - but not shoot it...honestly...

There is a glimmer that competitive shooters may get them back for range use only. Pest controllers still have them - it's just the hoi poloi that lost out.

Is it really "socialist" waste they are claiming that they are finding or just organized crime graft and corruption?

Seems to me (since it was brought up) that what we have here is full blown criminal organizations running inside the infrastructure. While some funds might be identified to claim credit, as always, the criminals will never be found or identified. Because the criminals are doing the investigation.

It's just wrastlin...

First off, guns are not a good investment. New or used, be prepared to sell under big box store prices or you are going to keep it… Big internet gun sales companies are giving big discounts on many models below what a small dealer pays for the same item. As noted above, a nothing special Remington 700 as an example that you couldn’t dump at $500 - $600 surely isn’t going to bring $1200 now. Finding even the most elusive gun is no challenge anymore.

When Democrats are in power Firearms and Firearms Accessories are through the roof, When Republicans are in power, The bottom falls out of it, Some Firearms companies were exposed donating to Democratic races within the last 15 years, I can't remember which ones they were, But hey lets face it, They make tons of money when the dems are in control.

We are also having a lot of uncertainty, Tariffs one day, Then not. No matter who you are or what part of the World you are in, That kind of back and forth will wear anybody down, What the hell is going on?

I'm sure as Hell glad Mrs gigglesworth didn't get elected though.

Recession is coming… yet another reason to hunker down even further.

On the upside, ditching whiskey, smokes, snacks, impulse buys does leave more cash for shooting sports.

Well, I may have gone a bit far in the ditching whiskey part… A $100 bottle does seem to last a good while.
It took almost two pages for the "R" word to come up. The fear of recession is a powerful brake on the economy. Lots of people are being laid off.

I'm brokeasajoke and I hope Trump keeps going. It may take more of my little textile job check to buy stuff but so be it. It's better than socialism and will eventually bring some stuff back to the USA. It will probably hurt me as some of our products are sent overseas for cut and sew before returned but maybe those jobs will come to the US as well.

Yep. There are active recessions around the globe currently. I don’t think many people understand how truly globally integrated the planet’s economies are.

Before I retired, there were parts for our products that I needed periodically. Some were Chinese, German, Mexican, US, and UK. I remember looking at part locations for things I needed through the years; Singapore, Australia, India, Japan, Russia, Canada, etc.

I’ve recently come to learn that nearly 60% of the generic drugs are sourced out of India, and a lot of the bulk material coming to US pharma is sourced from China. Drug prices already are high enough for people to reduce their recommended dosages. Or not take it all together due to the costs.

When important products like drugs are coming from India and China, we are better off making them here in the U.S. -- given the uncertain quality of many other products from these countries. Chinese products are spotty in quality from manufacturer to manufacturer. I don't buy anything from China/India that have to do with health or safety unless there is no other choice -- same with the 3rd world countries.

Lead times from groundbreaking to production are counted in years and 10s to 100s of millions. The squeeze ain’t worth the juice, when it’s generics and pennys in profits, coupled with the investment recovery.

You may not even know that your medication is from India. What the consumer gets is the end of the line packaging. I’ve only seen one example of India sourced medicine, and only because I peeled the sticker off of a tube.

I can tell you I have a lot more confidence in American made products as a whole than I do those from most foreign countries, particularly our enemies (the Chinese) and 3rd world countries.

Honest question. How can you say the number one trade partner for this country is an "enemy"?

I saw a Rem 700 action in the classifieds for $500. It lasted about an hour.

What we are seeing is a complete absence of reasonably priced used items that people actually want for their use (not collecting or whatever). When they appear, they are gone in minutes...

Hope that's just a tongue in cheek reply. If it's a serious comment and you don't already know the answer, then I can't help you.

It was meant to be a comment on the double mindedness of the entire situation. My personal feeling is that we should not be doing business with communists of any kind. Yet we are... How did that happen? Is my question... Enemy one second and number one trade partner the next. American houses are literally filled with Chinese everything... It certainly is very double minded.
