All you need to do to get into the site is type your original username/email and hit "forgot password". Shortly after you'll receive an email with a link to reset it. After that you keep your original name and you can access everything just as before!

Just tried this and it keeps coming up as Internet Explorer cannot display this page.

I tried this and it tells me my user name has already been taken. --Jerry

That means someone already on the Scout network has your username. So, you have to come up with a new one.

I had no problem getting in - I clicked "Forgot my password", and then opened the email and put the same password back with my original screen name.

But from what I hear of the coming changes, I doubt that I will use it much.

Looks like I'd have to pick a new username to hang around there now, as "Erud" is too short. I've been Erud there since 2005, but I don't spend much time over there any more anyways, so I guess 9 years was long enough.

Same boat here, must be 5 letters, heck even my name (Wade) is too short. I've been XTR on the internet since AOL instituted unlimited minutes in the 90s. (back when I raced mountain bikes) Not really in the mood to change it this week.

As I understand it, from the info that has been put out there, Scout wants to use their own forum software to host the forum on. Likely (in part) because it's already branded and tied to their other properties. They are working on replacing a lot of the functionality and I'm sure they are working like crazy to get it back to normal(-ish). I can't say I understand the logic behind not carrying over the old forum history, but <shrug>. I'm sure it will continue to evolve and restore features pretty quickly.

Some of the vitriol out there (not necessarily here) is pretty surprising.

I know you've been through a data conversion before...would you voluntarily do it again? :P

I get it but I'm not crazy about the new format but like everything else it will grow on me. Change...you either buck it or go with it. Great short read on the subject "Who moved my Cheese?". The read affected my attitude toward change.

LOL, I've been through many, many..... many, many, many (etc...) data conversions. None of them voluntary. :-)

I figured...I've never been on a smooth one, that is for sure. Software implementation I'm running now we told the customer point blank they didn't want to do a conversion...it was never painless and rarely considered successful so why attempt it and spend the couple million. Surprisingly they agreed...dodged a bullet there ;)

Migrations have been a PITA since ENIAC.

The problem is that it is always underestimated. Often by people that don't do the work.

I tell customers that they want a relationship rather than a product. I say that with all sorts of double and triple entendre in mind.

Cannot get on either, was told by Frank Galli it was my problem, everyone else had no problem accessing the site..

The link, for the archives, worked for me.............

I'm coming to the conclusion that it isn't worth trying to get back on.

Also, can't check scout at work. blocked.

I don't know Frank personally, but based on what I've seen him write he's pretty confident. I doubt this will revert.

Now, in 2002 or 2003 or so I was pretty confident and made some major changes to my website (onlinehumidor.com), and in 6 weeks there were virtual tumbleweeds blowing through the streets, I'm talking from 1000 unique users a day to zero.

In 2007 I got over my confidence and made some changes and the place bloomed again. One thing about the WWW, change comes fast, and you can get your metrics daily. They will be able to tell pretty quickly whether or not it's a successful transition, the problem with a revert is that people move on and find new places with the same old faces and they may not come back.

It appears to have migrated to this site. You can tell by the sudden appearance of posts with words like #%&holes, bull*&@*, and f$&?in. There goes the neighborhood. :(

I got logged on to the new SH forum but it was a pain ,i had a deal in the works there myself . Dont care for the new look of it and little to no info there, may just have to move on.
Now i remember why i dont post here alot, have to fill in 4 lines every time i post.

I wish them luck. But I will tell you people don't like change and that was a big change. The second thing is people don't like inconvenience, and it is very inconvenient .

I spent equal amounts of time both here and the "prior" SH. The biggest problem I had (as a novice shooter) is the fact that most everything is focused around "taticool" over at SH. Seems the more $$$ bling you have bolted to your Bimford 5000 built AI .308 the more respect and admiration you got. Granted, there was a lot of mature and focused knowledge I received , but I also found myself weeding through a lot of arrogant BS in the process. Here on AS ,seems to be quite a bit more mature conversations more specific to precision shooting in the whole (for everyone from beginners to masters). Me personally not going to bother re-registering for the "new and improved" SH..

It will be a while before they get everything sorted out. There was good information there in the reloading forums and the ballistic calculator suggestions helped me tremendously to true my inputs and get more first round hits. Hope Frank gets it ironed out.
