what did you shoot today?

It's been blowing up on the Colorado Plateau 40mph plus stronger gusts, so took out my carry gun, HK45c to stay fresh. Target load was 4.3 grs. WST. 230 fmj. Carry loads 6.1 grs. N340 for 230 gr GD. and 7.5grs. of WSF with 185 gr. GD. Glad the wind finely dropped down a little to get out and shoot something.

I am posting this data today not to show off my shooting skills but to show what a great job my son did truing a 40 year old Remington 700 Varmint rifle. This was his first build. He has only been in the business a couple years now. He is a 30 year ME and could have been a Machinist or Millwright when he got out of school but his grades were so high I re-mortgaged my house to send him to college. He took machinist night classes and has been to a couple gun smith classes this last year. He retires in two years and plans to do it full time. I shot the groups in the photo with a 3" bag rider up front off a Shade Tree rest and a DR bag for the but. It was overcast (a good thing for me) 5 to 7 wind @ 90 and 32 degrees. I held it tight in the shoulder with a good tight grip. It has a Bartlein barrel and a Trigger Tech trigger set down to 1 lb. 5 ozs. I will be 81 this week and it just doesn't get any better than this for me.
you must be proud of him.——congradulations

Shot 1 round at a gallon jug at 500 yards. 25-06 110 Sierra. 7.25 moa elevation dialed and held right edge.

Back a good many years ago when I had access to a place over in the swamp (a path down thru hunting woods on both sides) where I could shoot 1148 yds. me and couple of shooting buddies enjoyed taking out milk jugs, two litre drink bottles, and sometimes even smaller containers at longer distances. Always looked forward to taking our hunting rigs over for a jug busting session.

Shot at 500 yards with new muzzle brake. Made a big difference. Also first time I tried 130 gr. bullets at 500. 130 gr. Berger OTM top group and lower group is 130 gr. Hornady ELDM. New brake is a ULTRADYNE pegasus model. Old brake was a Cadex MX1 with a pinch bolt to remove for cleaning. It never shot like this. The pegasus has a lock nut that has a shroud where it meets the barrel. Just tighten it and I can loosen the brake to remove for cleaning. I have never seen such a big change from changing the muzzle brake. 41.7 grs. 4451. It got windy and at 800 yards is was more work to keep on target so I went back to 147 gr. ELDM bullets and it was much easier to stay on the target. At 1000 yards, the 130gr. bullets where not as good as the 147gr. bullets. But I need more work to really find out. 6.5 Creedmoor with a XLR ENVY PRO chassis and a Bartlein Heavy Varmint barrel, Trigger Tech Diamond as light as it will go. and a Nightforce NX8 4-32 F1

I acquired a new Browning XBolt 30/06. One of the green stocked ones Cabela’s has on sale. Tried my old “secret recipe” our grandpas used. 57.5 grains of IMR 4350 and my favorite Sierra 165 grain BTHP GK. I edited this to add r the end results. For some reason I couldn’t do it yesterday
