What 3 Cartridge Types for Your Shooting Needs?

S&W .40 for my Glock................short range , close up .
7.62 x 39 for my SKS , or any AK I might "find" . ..............Mid-range to 5-600 yards .
.308 Win for my Kelby.............Reach out and "Touch you" Range .

22PPC, 219 Don Wasp, 6PPC, 6BR, 243 Win, 7mm-08, 280 Rem, 30-06 ! Oh wait that is more than 3, the smart gun police will be here any time.

Limiting to competitions.
250 Savage
7mm-08AI
408 Cheytac

Hunting is a different story.
22 Mag
7mm Rem Mag
.410 shotgun

If you could only have three cartridges to cover all your shooting needs
what would they be and what would each be used for
Depends on where you live, what you use rifles for and if you reload. 300 Win Mag for elk, deer and antelope. 12ga pump action for turkey, grouse, waterfowl. A Glock 20 for bear protection.

That’s the whole list. Now, I do sometimes have shooting “wants” but I can do anything I’ll ever have the cash to do with a 6BR. I am not the least bit afraid of hunting animals up to elk with a 108 elite hunter at reasonable distance, and my 13.5 twist handles coyotes and whitetails just fine.

.22lr, .223, and 6br cover just about everything I do with rifles. For pistols, 9mm. That’s it.

30BR

Anyone make a 30BR in a lever action? I think it would be nice. I have one of my 30br’s ( bench rest) with a 21” barrel. It will shoot in the 2’s and sometimes in the 1’s (100 yds)
Just wonder how that cartridge would do in say a 20” lever gun?

I doubt you would be able to run the pressures of BR loads in the lever as you would in a BR rifle. Also you would need to use round nose or Flex-Tip bullets in it unless you had a Browning (BLR).
