I'm running a 308 short and long case Creed.

Year 4 if I recall.

They shoot great, long barrle life and easy to load for,,, no load development required.

It got me a spot in the secret club of awesome shooters. Ha.

Lots of hunting in the go season with endless days of plinking in match or general plinking.

The only thing beat up in my world is the target at the receiving end. LOL

Life is good if we spend in in the wilds,,, that and the part of staying out there as long as we can.

Yo Yo Yo from the far reaches of a cold frozen world in the North.

So peaceful with no humans you know.

Well, actually this ain't all about equality...n the real world a 6BR will outrun a 243AI..... and the small primer 308-sized cases easily outrun cases clear up to .284 capacity.

Please clarify this statement if you wouldn't mind. Your saying a 6br can outrun a 243AI ?

If I remember the Facebook post right Tubb tested the small primer in the 6xc. He said it didn't improve anything. He offers the small primer brass for sale.

From reading posts here. The small primer craze has created problems lighting slow powders in the cold however.

I think I remember reading the same as you. I asked a serious, former BRest shooter abt the store in the ppc. His opinion was abt .050" advantage. For colony or LR paper killers, not worth the trouble,?? But with cold weather competitions or meat hunting, go w large primers.
Same fellow, my smith, had experimented w abt 20 Palma cases squeezed into a 6XC but w a near .400" neck length, has 800 firings, checking for happy places for the 107 Sierras. At 800+ it finally stopped shooting in the zeroes as frequently. Node was 3200+......brass still hale and hardy.
Oh yeah, .0008, yes 8 tenths throat wear on our XCal bbl for the XC Long Neck.

Not sure if your comment was intended to sully Parker O. Ackley's work. I hope not. I've really liked you, so far. :)

Not specifically. I own a 257 Ackley, so I like some of his work. And his version of the 300 Short magnum has been standardized as the 30-338 or 308 Norma neither of which are interchangeable but close enough. I do like the 35 Whelen Ackley as it controls headspace better.

Even he had doubts about some of his creations. And he had some faint praise for other “Improved” cartridges and magnum designs.

In one of these articles, there were comments from the man himself on his own creations. He didn’t recommend the 25-06 or 270 AI, for example.

Fundamentally.. yes. That’s not to say that all started with a 250 savage base, but by the time they were necked, formed, blown out, etc. the result was they were within a grain or three of water capacity.
but your still not brave enough for a TALISMAN,,,

oh, let's just change the rules of FTR to anything made from a 308 or 223 case...
Does that mean I can shoot my Creedmoor? Years ago I used .308 Lapua Palma brass to create my Creedmoor brass. Hmmmm I don't think I could ever screw a bipod on my Kestros stock.

Uh oh!,!! Who'll be the lucky owner? We're going to have a lot of long lasting shoot with offs coming up with this many Talismans out there. Haven't lost a tournament since I was embellished with the Talisman.

I shot 145 turkeys in a row on a tiebreaker in smallbore silhouette with another talisman holder. I couldnt miss. I shot all my ammo and everybody elses on the line and we had to just call it a draw when we both ran out
