Hi all, I live in Johannesburg South Africa. I shoot a 308 Win rifle with a 28" barrel I have ordered 155.5 gn Berger bullets and will be shooting at up to 300 meter distances. Can any of you guys assist me with load data that will assist me in developing an accurate load eg required optimum velocity, seating depth, type and quantity of powder to be used, start and max load. Is the 155.5 gn Berger the best type of bullet to use. I am a member of the South African Hunters and Game Conservation Association and shoot at branch level, regional and national level. I am a senior shooter as I am 73 years of age. I would be very grateful for any assistance and advice.

Rod Welcome to the forum, I think you will generate much more feed back if you ask this question in the main reloading section of the forum, best wishes and look forward in talking with you in the future.

Hey all,
I'm new to the forum but not new to shooting, I have a sako L-46 in .222 rem,
M-77 markll in 6.5 creedmoor and a custom 6br on a rem 700 action
with 1 in 14 twist stainless heavy hart barrel and McMillan stock.
I,m not sure what chamber reamer was used on the 6br? Right now using
Remington brass not sure if lapua brass will chamber or not. I wonder if
someone would be willing to send me one piece of FL sized lapua brass so I can see if it will chamber in my rifle. Thanks for having me aboard

Hello everyone great forum :) I'm looking for info and load data for a new gun it is a 243 ai with a Douglas barrel 1 10 twist with a mouser 1909 action and Timney trigger have not scoped it yet nor fired it also would like to her a good scope that I could put on her so any ideas?

Hi
Just to introduce myself
My name is Don, Im from the battleground state of New York
Im a member of American Legion Post 1026
Im a practicing long range shooter, also short range
I really enjoy reloading, but Im still learning that too
I shoot a Savage F Class with two larry Racine barrels one in the original savage 6.5x284 and a new Krieger7.5 twist 6br

Hello All,

I really like the idea of shooters helping other shooters. I shot competition at 10 years old and have shot off and on for 55 years. Yes, I'm an old fart! I shoot a 17 HMR with my grandson, a Savage 223 9 twist,
a 223 with a 12 twist, a 243 with a 9.125 twist, and a 35 year old 30-06 that still shoots under 1 MOA at
100 yes. I like to develop loads on my Dillon press and of course journal everything as well as file everything on a spreadsheet. I mostly target shoot at 100 yards but sometimes go out with my buddy Kirk to shoot 600 yards. It is such a thrill to dial up your scope and hit center mass on a target at longer distance.

If you are not passionate in what you are doing, do something else!

Dave

New to this forum. I reload a lot of different calibers, but have gotten into my first true wildcat, sort of by accident.

I live in Oklahoma City and do a good bit of informal rifle shooting and reloading. I think I reload 12 different calibers. My equipment is Lyman T-Mags. I haven't felt the need for a progressive rig yet since I will typically shoot ten to twenty rounds in each gun I take to the range.

I hunt deer, hogs, coyotes, armadillos, etc. in southern Oklahoma. My username, criticalbass, describes my condition when I haven't been bass fishing in a month or more. I have several friends who have large bass ponds with jonboats on them. I bring trolling motor, paddle, gear, etc, and usually do quite well. Last year my two best were seven pounds, and I caught probably ten fish over five pounds, and quite a few over three.

That's about it for an intro. Read on only if you are interested in my first entry into the wildcat realm.

I have a converted Turk Mauser which was a 22-250. I bought it form an individual whose grandfather had believed himself to be a gunsmith.

The chamber was too shallow to accept rounds, and it's a good thing, because if you engaged the aftermarket safety, pulled the trigger, and disengaged the safety--CLICK! So I had a real gunsmith fix these issues and float the fluted barrel which had been jammed against the forend, mounted a scope, and sighted it in. Shot dime size groups at 100 with commercial 45 gr 22-250.

Now to reload some of the brass. Resizing was like extreme case forming. Cases wrinkled at the neck and grew .040! I tried some brass from my other 22-250, and the resizing was normal. Chamber was 'way big. My smith suggested taking it out to 22-243, and that's where it is now. Dies are, according to FedEx, arriving tomrrow.

I have done a lot of internet searching for loads for this rifle. I see lots of Middlestead and 22-243 AI info, and some data for the regular 22-243 Win chambering which I have, but almost all of it is for barrels with a faster twist than the 1/14 which my conversion has.

This is my first true wildcat, though my 338-06 almost qualifies, but I know to work up loads slowly and carefully. I have PM'd one member here because he used to have a 22-243 with a 1/14 twist. I will search for more info, but if anyone has pet loads that will drive something 50 grains or lighter at very high velocities, I am interested. I know barrel life will be short, but it's a price I'm willing to pay.

Be sure to look up 6mm-250 and other type variants. I'm sure you'll find lots more information.

Hi guys. I am relatively new to reloading but have aspired to be at this point in my shooting enjoyment since I was a kid. After being forced into retirement due to a bad accident that left me in a wheelchair I have embraced shooting and all things firearms with renewed passion. I have several handguns (1911s and a Glock) that I love shooting. I am very interested in the AR platform and accurate shooting from it. I have built several good shooting ARs in .223 and 6.8spc. My present intrest is building and shooting a AR type rifle in one of 6mm's out there. I am also getting interested in haveing a nice bench bolt rifle that I could shoot in competition. I really like this site and all the good people it seems to attract. That's me in a nutshell. Looking forward to knowing ya'll.

Hi, all. New to the forum (although I've posted a half dozen comments already) but have been a shooter for 60+ years, and a reloader for about 25. A target shooter most of my life including the college rifle team, and later NRA High Power (service rifle) for a while as therapy while practicing law. Currently compete in monthly IDPA and USPSA matches at my shooting club, partly because I don't need great eyesight to do it, and partly to keep in touch with quickly deploying and employing a concealed handgun should the need arise. I use S&W 38 Special revolvers, for the fun of it.

I recently decided I needed a long range rifle that could take a scope - never had one, and didn't want to modify my M1A to do it. So I picked up a Marlin X7VH in 223 as a low cost and low recoil toy. I've been working on working up accurate long range loads for it, as my shooting range requires that I demonstrate the ability to make first round hits at 300 and 500 yards before I can shoot unsupervised beyond 200. It has been a real pleasure to get back to focusing on precision at distance. I'm planning to visit our club's monthly F-class match in a few weeks to see what that's about - on paper it sounds like it could be fun, although I know my stock Marlin is not likely to be very competitive. Still, there's nothing like the pressure of competition to force improvement of skills.

Now if I could just find some powder. And primers. And bullets . . .

Hello to all, New to this forum, and looking for info on long range. Currently using 300 SAUM, 300 Win Mag, 30.06 and 6.5 x 55, + other toys.
Regards
Bill

Hi, I'm new to the Reloading Forum. I'm getting back to reloading after a 50+ years hiatus. I'll be looking for loads and tips for reloading the .270 Winchester cartridge for my new accuratized Ruger #1 rifle with a Kepplinger set trigger. It is topped with a 4-16X 50mm Hawke SR Pro reticle scope. I'm starting with Nosler 130, 140, and 150 gr. bullets, using recovered Hornady brass until I receive backordered shipment of Winchester brass. I'll also be using the 2 pounds each I have on hand of H414, IMR4350, and R-22 powders. I'm hoping to find loads that are effective at 1,000 yards. Texas shooting sometimes gets windy!

Hello all,
I am new to forums but not to shooting and reloading. I shoot Highpower and Long Range competitions and have been reloading for 33 years. Currently I am breaking in a .308 barrel for a new gun to shoot L/R tactical this year.
I have shot the new Berger OTM tactical bullet while breaking in the barrel and so far the best 5 shot group has been 4.50 moa with one flyer opening up the group to 6.60 moa.
I love to shoot and am always looking for more help and will always offer some if asked. I have blown up too many AR's "seeing if this will work" and hope to save some of the pain to folks new to reloading.
Happy to be aboard, thanks for having me.
Love the spell check.
