Weighing primers testing results ANYONE DOING IT ???

When you guys sort primers, do you adjust powder charge for the lesser or greater primer weight, or do you just sort them and shoot the like weights together using same charge regardless of primer weights?

Is there enough difference to have an effect on tune, I guess is what I am asking.

Kid, I don't shoot with junk. Why would you use less than the best? Components are only important in LR?

I have seen several 1000 yd Bench Rest record holders sharing info on threads and getting bashed every other post by someone demanding "data" or "test criteria". It has been to the point of ridiculousness.

I understand completely and it doesn't surprise me at all. There are a probably bunch of shooters with strong science backgrounds. In most fields of science if you make some claim, you'd damn well better be prepared to support it, or else be heavily criticized and eventually lose your funding. If you don't wish to go through the tedious peer-review process, it's probably better not to make any claims at all, which unfortunately, will also eventually cause you to lose your funding. That's great for taxpayers, whose hard-earned tax dollars support the majority of research in this country, because it functions as a quality-assurance process to ensure that most of the findings published are valid and accurate. Unfortunately, it's not so great for members of this and other shooting forums, because when folks are no longer willing to share their findings, everyone loses.

Do you have any other hard data you can add to the mix? I’d love to see anything quantitative, gas temp etc.

Unfortunately, no. The closest thing I've been able to observe is the color of the residues with the same powder and different primers. Whiter/lighter colored residues from what I would guess are higher temperature primers. Just speculation, though.

Made it out to the range a couple of days ago.
I shot 5 primers (Federal GM205M) that I weighed on my FX120i scale.
I numbered each case with a sharpie
21 3.62 gr
22 3.62 gr
23 3.66 gr
24 3.68 gr
25 3.68 gr

All 5 primers weighed 3.38 gr after firing as they came out of the case via Whidden FL resizing die and a Forester press. Primers were caught individually in the primer catcher on the Forester press and weighed at that time.

The target was shot at 600 yards, 6 Dasher, 105 Berger VLD, .010 ITL, .104 FB, no hold for the wind.
Lots more testing to do.
Will report back later.
