You likely meant “isn’t for me” but I can certainly see how you are confused having just blown a 6 digit wad on a watch. lol.Probably is for you.
But, thankfully you’re not everyone.
While I don't even spend the money for Rolex, Tag, Breitling, Omega or others mid range luxury watches, 150K is nothing. Try a Patek Philippe on for size:If I ever spend $150K plus on a watch I will kick my own ass. That’s absolutely ridiculous to spend for a watch.
Just like nobody ever bought a Timex as an investment. They are terrible for losing value.Nobody ever bought a Rolex for the accurate time it told. They are horrible for losing time.
I meant it as I wrote it.You likely meant “isn’t for me” but I can certainly see how you are confused having just blown a 6 digit wad on a watch. lol.
One of my current projects is my Seamaster with a 600 movement. These were produced in the 60's but not sure of the exact year for mine. Sending the case out for gold plating this week. The screw I needed should be here today.My watch tastes are as varied as my rifles. Daily I wear a 1967 Omega Seamaster Chronostop. If I'm working outside it's a Pulsar (Seiko) quartz. Occasionally a Rolex Precision, or an English Smith's which were my dad's or a Seiko, currently getting serviced, a present from my wife. I have a hatred of expanding bracelets, so all have good leather straps.
would be interesting to know who the bidders were.Fun video to watch (pun). Buyer paid a 12.5% premium on top of the final bid which brought the sale price to...well, I don't want to spoil the video for you so;
I don't think that's ever been revealed. I'm curious as well.would be interesting to know who the bidders were.
Nice setup here is mineNecro thread revival. I stood above the watch collecting rabbit hole some time ago.....then went down it by deciding I wanted to build and learn to service / restore timepieces. Invested in enough equipment to get moving.
In the process of restoring a couple of my own but looking for more to work on. Would be fine purchasing but if you have some old pieces you'd be willing to donate, I'd be thankful.
I might start a separate thread for this if anyone is interested. Thanks for looking.

Just for the record, I was not one of them...I don't think that's ever been revealed. I'm curious as well.
Very nice. I'm sure I'll be acquiring the specialty tools along the way.Nice setup here is mine
