I just find it so interesting,and "telling" that;
Not even a hour up the rd from Washington is Baltimore. A place BTW,that I have spent a decent amt of time in. A lot of good folks from there. That isn't the point.
The point is,how durn easy it is to use that city as a litmus,and with NO uncertainty that more laws in several areas has absolutely no effect once you start,"piling on". They have arguably some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country. They're also sort of a border if you will between northern,labor union territory and right to work attitudes further south. Which isn't about trying to "declaw" unions,but when it comes to police work they're going to be part of the debate.
I wasn't there during the last riots but, it wasn't too long after... and had been before. What never gets reported on is how conservative a WHOLE LOT of their black population is. Take the looters and put them in a circle. Oh they have their excuses for basically burning down their own chit.... NOT. But that only was in very distinct areas. There was no police,partly because they were just plain scared.... and partly because they effectively fed this animal. Ultimately backing away.....
There were so many instances of where good old fashioned hometown folks were on the street putting and end to all the looting and violence in their neighborhoods. This is what goes on everyday,not just the times reported. The police,only work there long enough to get some experience then hightail it out to the counties. Very strange place,and probably not to dissimilar from other big cities.
Why not,if our politicians..... pick a flavor,really wanted to "do something" about unrest,wouldn't they utilize this almost perfect laboratory? And can not emphasize enough how nice a lot of folks are there,taking the crackheads out of it.
I'd say they're scared(the politico)..... and not just for getting murdered. More of,if the public finds out how bad they're carrying out the ideals set down in this,still great country..... they's gonna be some hard answers demanded.
