My “collection“. Just got the “King Turtle” mostly because I had an original 6309 back in my Navy days. Some swiped it at a driving range one day a couple of yrs after I got out. I’ve got a rubber strap ordered for it.

All of them get worn, scratches show it

My father's maternal grandfather emigrated to New York City in 1908 from Alsace, while it was still under annexation by Germany. According to my grandmother, this was bought shortly after he arrived here in the United States.

He ordered that it would always be passed down to the eldest son, and it is in my possession now. I wind it up on occasion, and it still keeps time for 14-16 hours or so, before it needs winding again. The name on the watch face reads "A P Nahmens, New York". The case appears to have a serial number engraved upon it as well. It is by far one of my most treasured possessions:

Bought it new in 1967 Hong Kong 1st auto dive watch by SEIKO
Still works but I wouldn't count on the water proof.
My old 6309 didn’t look much better. I got it for a whopping $99 at the exchange in Pearl in ‘84. After I got out I was attempting to learn that silly golf game (everyone in the company played). It was way to heavy to wear swinging a club and someone swiped it from beside my bag at the driving range one afternoon in about ’89.

I am now a grandfather. My Swedish grandfather's grandfather's watch [7 generations], I researched it on the internet and figured out that it is a counterfeit.

A large number of “fake Breguets” were made in the late 18th century and throughout the 19th century. There were considerably more of them than real Breguet pieces.

However, the memory of your grandfathers grandfather is still alive. As a society, we forget the past too easily.

Necro thread revival. I stood above the watch collecting rabbit hole some time ago.....then went down it by deciding I wanted to build and learn to service / restore timepieces. Invested in enough equipment to get moving.

In the process of restoring a couple of my own but looking for more to work on. Would be fine purchasing but if you have some old pieces you'd be willing to donate, I'd be thankful.

I might start a separate thread for this if anyone is interested. Thanks for looking.
