Vista Outdoor Sells Ammo Company Holdings

Don't be so pessimistic right off the bat, foreign companies often treat US customers better than in country CEOs do. They are looking at how American CEOs do business, I can see what foreign executives say is true. To be an executive in Ameriac you need to be a frat buddy or a neighbor from the hood. Any place else you need years with the company and training and good sense. Americans assemble cars here from all the Japanese makers and all from Korea, and the parent company makes money doing it. CEOs from the big 3 said the American worker was too lazy and blame poor sale on the workers , not the crap they try to sell to us. Right now it looks to me like you can buy Vitavori powder cheaper than Hodgdon or any of the others. They are taking advantage of the shortage and gouging us, we don't know yet if this new company is going to do the same. We know what its been like for the last few years with ATK, i hope these guys are better, but only time will tell.

I’m not reading anything bad into it yet, might regret saying that after they’ve had it awhile, time will tell. It is sad to see so much American industry go out of country, we may still make it here but the profits are going elsewhere, so is the control and decision making. Seeing companies like a Remington, CCI, Speer, Federal getting bought by foreign entities is kinda of like watching someone sell their soul…. Just my two cents.

Nakneker Do I want to send an Americans money to a POS American CEO that rams woke BS down our throats and tries to encourage communism here or someone in a country that hates communism. Buying American can be good but only if you know who's at the helm. Think Bud Lite, Target, Best Buy and all the American companies that "love us".

You make a good point, I would hope that Bud Light and the rest took notes at the monumental screw up they set into motion, dumb, serious $$ lost.. I think people are being and more and more conscientious of where their money goes and pulling their head out of the sand.

Those ammo companies are why I bought Vista stock. When Vista announced the Sporting group spinoff I said whoopee and expected big things for the ammo companies. Now I am not so sure what to expect.

EDIT: Vista was down 24.09% on the news of the sale today.

I get it not wanting to send/give your $ to a foreign country.
However ya better step back and look at the whole big picture. Where is the key board and monitor you are using at this moment made? What country of origin did some of your last meal come from?

My angle on the subject at hand, all of the equipment that is here, SHTF, we still have the equipment and someone will acquire it.

Follow the money - that is like trusting the target. The money is why things get bought and sold.

So, if you need more production because of an international spike in small arms due to the Russian mess, why not buy up capacity from America - if military contracts pay more than the average dude at Cabelas I‘m sure we will take it in the shorts.

Militaries all over Europe are likely stockpiling much more than makes the news. It‘s also likely many military contracts under the radar are sucking components out of the system now. If ammo companies are not selling internationally outright to not piss off US shooters, rest assured wholesalers are making large sales that don’t make it to retail shelves. The spike in gun sales during Covid is an easy cover story, but we all know components aren’t simply selling out quick - components just aren’t making it to the shelves.

I worked for two ammo companies winchester and remington . Remington was the best of the two to work for. Maybe they were too good. Doug

I think about it like this...

CSG is a large international conglomerate. No different from Raytheon, ATK, etc. Their US assets still have to follow US export regulations.

Vista has been asleep at the wheel for the last 3 years. Looked to me like they were crying wolf in public about the mean supply chain and "unprecedented demand" to save face with customers while limiting investment keep their ESG scores. After they sold Savage in 2019, I don't think the board wanted a thing to do with firearms or ammunition. Just my opinion.

I'm optimistic a wholly-owned private entity will be more willing to support the industry.
