Varmint Hunters Reticle

Do you notice how the reticle gets slightly out of focus as it gets closer to the periphery? That's very close to what it looks like @ 8X. Any optic is going to do this--some less than others. They use Japanese glass (I believe it's from Hakko), so it's a good optic, and even though it gets a bit out of focus--if you want the most out of a ballistic reticle it doesn't get any "better" than Horus, and you will get faster shots and follow-up shots using it than any other reticle out there. There are a lot of winning competitive shooters who are (or at least were) using HV reticles. You should read how Dennis Sammutt came up with this reticle years ago. It's pretty fascinating actually. He had a write-up on it in Precision Shooting Publications quite a few years back.

Why would you care if the reticle matches up to 330 and 415 instead of 300 and 400? The prairie dogs don't come out at exact distances to match your reticle. As long as you know what your reticle is you can figure out where to hold. Same with windage. You will never get exact 90 deg. cross wind at 10 MPH increments in a dog town.

I put a Redfield Revolution Accurange on my 6 Dasher. It's a 4-12, 40mm with a reticle setup that is uncluttered and make sense to me. Barlow
