Got my letter yesterday and just got done reading it closely then saw this thread. Main thing that gets my goat is the way they folded up overnight basically rolling up the carpet and turning the lights out. I sent them a check for 2 year renewal last April then found out they went under. I wonder how Jeff and Jacquie Rheborg can even look in the mirror!? No notice or anything from them! Really Pi$$es me off! Anyway I had forgotten about it until I got letter and now I am gonna deep six the letter and not worry about it.

VHA had sold just damn near everything to keep that magazine going as long as they could. I see statements here about how "I'm good with Adobe I could do that.." Blah blah blah... Try it.. VHA was down to bare minimum for quite some time trying to keep the wheels rolling.. SHITTY ECONOMY!! THANKS FOR ALL YOUR OBAMA VOTES!!
As far as you bashing Jeff and Jackie leads me to believe that YOU do not know these people. The jamboree they held was an "appreciation" for members. It was not an event to make the VHA money. IT COST THEM!!
In 2011, when they had to cancel it, it was because there was no safe lodging to be had in Pierre. This I KNOW because I traveled back to MY home town of Pierre. To help MY friends and family sandbag both towns.. Jeff Rheborg and I ran a good crew, 8 or 10 of us, with the help of a group from SD national guard (147th from Brookings SD) made OVER 11,000 sand bags PER DAY for 10 days strait at 18 hours per day.On the 11th day, as we were headed out to the range to get it ready for jamboree, Jeff got a call from one of head honchos from the SD guards.. They wanted to know if we could set up and help them for just a couple more days.. We turned around and went back to help them, OUR town... 3 days after that we were mowing and prepping the grounds for the jamboree.. It was 4 days after that the flooding was getting worse and there were no hotels that were not on high ground and Jeff was NOT about to endanger anyone or bring them near a flooded central South Dakota! THAT is Jeff Rheborg! And as far as him looking in the mirror.. I'd like to see you stand face to face with me and say that! Jeff has done more for more people than YOU ever will.
"Owners and staff in the Bahamas" ... Not hardly..
You didn't explain it any better. Give it up, they took people's money for nothing. Stealing if you ask me.I cannot and do not speak for Jeff or VHA. I do not know all the circumstances.. NONE of you do.
What does a "life time membership" entail? YOUR lifetime or the lifetime of the organization? Think about it.
I worked on and off for Varmint Hunters for some time... A couple for Ned and Marc and quite a few for Jeff and Jackie, never full time. Only as needed. I was paid 1 time from them, never asked to be and never accepted anything after that. And yes. I bought my yearly memberships and had sent mine in shortly before I heard they were closing up. Ya it sucked.. Bad for me? Imagine what they had to go thru to decide locking up was better than not..
It did always seem to have some sort of turmoil. As anyone can understand, it is hard to find good honest help. Help that will not steal or try to cheat their boss somehow. If you don't get that, you have never owned your own business.
I'm sorry if some of you thought my first post was offending... If that is the case, most of you have never been properly offended.
And "threatening"?? Gimme a break... Go to Walmart and buy yourself some tougher feelings..
Let me try to explain this to you better.
So you are 19 and get a 69 SS Chevelle. It's awesome! It is fast, it is a really cool car, all your buddies really think you're cool and what not. But when you are 24 you get married. You still have your 69 Chevelle it's still really cool but it's loud, burns a lot of gas and always something rattling and loose clunky on it. Then you are 30 and your wife and you have a couple of kids, but you got your same old car. It is still really cool, really fast, doesn't get very good gas mileage, burns oil, the paint is fading and some of the chrome is getting pitted, you can't put a baby seat in the back of it very easily just kind of a pain in the ass. But all of your buddy's still think you're really cool you got a cool car you know your car doesn't meet your needs. So do you keep the same old 69 Chevelle? Upgrade it and put a V-6 in it? Something that gets a little better fuel mileage doesn't leak any oil isn't quite as fast, isn't quite as cool. You spruce it up. Give it a paint job make it look really cool. But it is still just the same old 69 Chevelle with no room in the back isn't very good on long trips, the kids are getting bigger, there is no room in the back. Everyone that sees you and your car thinks, "man that is a nice car.. I wish I had a car like that!!" It is cool. Does it function as the "perfect" vehicle for you? No.
At some point you have to draw the line and get rid of it rather than to keep dumping money into something that is bottomless, outdated and does not fit the need.
I hope that helps..
As far as the no notification thing... I don't know.. If I do ever find out I will let you all know..
