22-250 Varmint Rifle Recommendations

The only major difference I see is that the Bergara has a 1:9 twist, the Savage is 1:12.
That's a pretty big difference I would say. I would lean to the Bergara with the 1:9 twist if you are using the rifle mainly for yotes. You will find the ability to stabilize 70 grain bullets that buck the wind a lot better than the 50 grainers you shoot with the slower twist. Difference between 52 grain hornady ELDM and their 60 (60.3) grain soft point is over close to 10 inches inches deviation on 500 yard impact with a 10MPH crosswind. 1:9 twist you could shoot 70 grain and get even less wind diviation and more knockdown power at the same time.

If you are just shooting gophers when the best conditions present themselves nothing wrong with a lighter weight and slower twist barrel, the savage would suit you well too if that is the scenario. That's my opinion.

My advice would be get a Remington action , than throw a remage barrel of your chosen twist on it, than if you aren’t happy with the twist sell the barrel and buy a different one.. can still use the same gauges, pick what trigger / stock you want, a little more custom with not much more added cost..

Or take a look at the Remington 583 Varmint. Around 500 bucks out the door; any reviews I've seen claim these are shooters, even with some factory ammo. 26 inch heavy barrel, a steel detachable magazine, laminated wood stock. I recently handled one in .22-250 and it reminded me of the 700 VLS.; if I didn't already have a Swift with a 1-14" twist, I'd probably be buying one (although, considering the barrel-nut system it comes with, changing to a better barrel with a different twist rate should be a piece of cake.)
But, back to the original question about the two choices: Bergara all the way. Fast-twist 24”barrel, AICS magazine, R700 footprint, decent adjustable stock....

I'm looking for some thoughts/advice on a couple rifles I'm looking at. Does anyone have experience with the Savage 110 Varmint and/or the Bergara B-14 HMR in .22-250?

From what I've seen so far it looks like I can't go wrong with either one, I'm just looking for some opinions. I have a Savage Trophy Hunter in .22-250 already and it stacks factory 55 gr. VMAX on top of itself with ease. Nothing wrong with that one, I'm just looking to upgrade into something more in a "varmint" style with the heavy barrel and what not. The only major difference I see is that the Bergara has a 1:9 twist, the Savage is 1:12. Cost is not an issue for me, I can get deals on both.
You can get the savage in a 1-9 , mine is . 12 LRPV
