Varget cost

And will continue to. Not buying it isn't going to make the price come down either.
I can guarantee that if everyone stopped buying components, 'only because they are there', and out of fear of missing out, prices would drop. No ifs, ands or buts about it.

Powder prices are inflated because we reloaders keep buying whatever prices they put on the canisters. I bet you whoever owns Hodgdon is snickering on his/her gold plated commode when they take a dump in the morning. "I can't believe these suckers keep buying even with a 200% margin!".

If we could take a collective breath and not buy anything for 6 months it would create an inventory glut that would result in prices being lowered. You know what makes Hodgdon less money than a $250 jug of Varget? A $450 jug of Varget sitting on the shelf in their warehouse for 6 months.

As bad as it is now, at least there is no longer the stupid $120 for a brick of CCI 400s, limit one BS that was the norm for a good 12 months. And people still bought at that time which is a big reason why this big mess is still around!

We bitch and moan about high prices and then we whip out our wallets as soon as we see something on a shelf, no matter the cost. Oh boy do we ever get what we deserve.

So very true!! Well said. Product has to move for there to be any profit. Business 101. If product sits on the shelf for a little while, the price point will come down to move it. If people keep buying it at
the elevated pricing, the sky is the limit. Or, move to VV powders. Which would do several things, make you and your wallet very happy and leave the Varget unsold on the shelf which will make the price point come down. Our Ace Hardware has some Varget sitting on the shelf, collecting dust, at 68.00 per pound. Hope they choke on it.

Everyone isn't gonna stop buying it lots of people use varget and will continue to use it

Vihtavuori used to be the high priced premium powder. Shooter's World has some of the old Lovex made Accurate powders under different names. Vectan/Nobel Sport is available online. Now they are all cheaper than anything distributed by the "H". I guess the Finns, Czechs, and French didn't get the memo yet. I just don't buy H products anymore. Not a boycott, just my budgeting needs.
Edit: I used to work for General Dynamics and think they make great powders (most of the H lines) by the way. But, budgeting is necessary.

I would pay $11000 a lb from “H” before I would except a free 50lb keg from France!

This is why I warned people this was coming When Obama was in charge! I stocked up then when things were a least in range for me. Now I guess when I run out I quit shooting, I feel that strong about having to pay these kind of prices.

Joe,
Don’t forget that food is even more outta sight than reloading components
I hope it doesn’t sell at that price.
it will

I myself would have bought the varget, it’s only $12 which is now a cheeseburger and my brx’s and 7-08 loads have been perfected long ago with Varget
Wayne
Well I bought the N540. I've never used Varget a day in my life, and wasn't gonna start now. Probably because I've never owned, or will own a rainbow 308 haha.

My 223 has taking a liking to the N540 with 75g ELDMs. Varget doesn't produce the speed as N540, and I highly doubt it would be anymore accurate either, as N540 is doing 1/3 MOA.

Plus, everyone uses Varget. It's typically harder to find and more expensive than Vihtavouri powders these days.
