V3 not working…

Vin81

I just a purchased a used V3 with trickler while I await the ingenuity setup.

To connect the scale to Bluetooth, I need to unplug and replug the scale in each time.

I am able to throw and trickle manually only. However, when I set a target weight to throw it’s says, “unable to read weight on scale!… pic attached

I have checked the scale settings from the manual several times, it all checks out. Both trickler and thrower are wired correctly. I emailed Macdonald and haven't received a reply yet. I’m at a loss… any suggestions?

Double check the soldered connections on the serial plug connecting to the back of the A&D.

Do you have a multimeter to check the voltage output of the power supply or a replacement powersupply to rule out power problems?

It’s currently plugged in with the power cord that came with the v3, the only other power cord is the original supplied with the scale. Soldered connections look good.

Update, problem solved…

So Adam responded and advised to try power cycling the scale but if that doesn't fix it then it's pointing to failed electronics. There was a long term reliability issue with the RS232 chip in the early version boards from 2016-2018,

I hard reset the scale to factory settings, calibrated and TaDa it works!

Scale was configured for the SuperTrickler, fx rep thinks that was the issue. Even after I sold it, the ST still giving rearing it ugly head at me.

Did you run through the scale calibration with the check weight? My scale sometimes displays an error with my V4, and goes away after I calibrate the scale.

Every time I power up my V4 the E message comes up and I calibrate with the check weight. Problem solved until next time.

Yeah this would likely be true any time you change what is interfacing with your scale. A person always wants to set the scale back to factory defaults before attaching another trickler, then configure as directed for that trickler. You'll likely have to do this when you get the IP as well, or should just to assure you're not having issues. Kinda like the power cables, don't want to mix em up!
