Is the Auto-Throw Worth It?

You can't spend your way to Glory ...

Old Retired Guy here. All this extra time on my hands and some cash . I shot Palma and some f-Class.
First the cash = Wine ,Women & Song ..
Scale Brand B (EJ-123) slower and works
Trickler Dandy 2 speed , works well
Powder Dispenser Redding BR
Back Up RCBS Ohaus 5-10 Tuned .

I have the Time I get SD in the 3.2 to 5.8 Range :)
I can't out shot my equipment

If my health was better and Younger I Buy that set up to see how mush better it is .. o_O

How did the real old shooters ever Win a Match ?

Best of Luck to All

I'm 34, have most of the whiz bang gear, and routinely get beat by guys who are 30-40+ years older.

I'm starting to think it's not the equipment. ;)

Auto throw is a novelty, the time it takes to dip a Lee Dipper is nothing.. It's just what you want, it's less to think about with the auto throw setup correctly. I honestly think the biggest time savings will be the Bluetooth charge weight setup.. That will be nice.

I have the bluetooth software and it makes things a lots quicker and easier for sure.

I have been using my Harrell’s trying to get consistent with throwing since I don’t think it would be easy to carry the fx120i to the range.

Preload 1 dram vials with your powder and take it t the range.......I have a Harrells & a N.Jones and am not happy with my skills with either one. ..........1 dram vials ..............Amazon is your friend........;)

It's all about how much your time is worth to you. I can load about 1 round per minute with my Chargemaster to Sartorius with Omega trickler setup. I have a autotrickler on order.

How many gr will the 1 dram vials hold?

Just revisiting this post. As it turns out, I ordered a V3 autothrow set up and then canceled and ordered the V4. It is definitely worth the cost. I have absolutely no buyer’s remorse.

As stated it's hard to beat the Lee scoops and the trickle up method.... Once you learn to use the scoops the correct way it's actually pretty darn fast and accurate and cheap....

I started with the Lee scoops and autotrickler v2. They are cost effective for sure. Graduated quickly to using several Harrell’s powder throws with the Autotrickler. Much more accurate quicker than using the scoops. Sat on the fence for over a year debeaking whether it could get any better using the Autothrow and Bluetooth software. After reading some of the replies it was clear I was missing out on something so I ordered the V3 autothrow and a few months later Adam announce the V4. I upgraded my order and got picked as one of the beta testers.

Long and short of it is that the autothrow frees your hands up and takes a step out of the process. For me, the timing is perfect for me to seat the bullet on the last filled case. Combining the AutoTrickler into the unit means less clutter on your bench and frees up the space next to the scale which allows me to bring my press in closer. It also allows you to change out powders quicker easier. No way I would ever go back to a scoop. I still use the Harrell’s if I want to load a few rounds of something else and don’t want to change out the powder.

I loaded 85 rounds in less than an hour yesterday using Chargemaster to A&D then trickling up to plus or minus .02 grains. I have found my thumb and forefinger makes the best trickler available. I had a V4 on order, canceled just before it shipped when I decided to build a new rifle instead. I will probably order one this fall just for the heck of it, unless a new gun or build eats the money first

I charged 50 primed cases in about 23 minutes last night. I'm still getting used to using the V4, coming from a Chargemaster. I kept waiting for the beep to signal the charge was ready (except that the V4 doesn't beep.)

I'm really impressed with the speed and accuracy of the Autotrickler.

good for you, myself I am retired and in no rush, I find spending time spent reloading in my little man cave relaxing
